How would you like it if South China Sea is renamed West Philippine Sea?

I'd say it's a good idea so that other countries wont be misled that Spratlys belongs to China since it lies in the South China Sea. What's your opinion on that?

Then would this make Spratlys part of the Philippine Islands? This has been going for so ages. Now Taiwan is also claiming this island. When would this stop? Probably not until China finally gets it, I guess!

Doesn't Philippines own it already according to the international law? Doesn't it say it's under Philippine territory seas? Vietnam would have been worthier than China or Taiwan in terms of distance from Spratlys. China's reason for its claim is because Spratlys is in their history and if the Philippines contests that, what history could Philippines produce? The Spaniards had already burned them all for reasons like its against the Church or witchcraft...whatever

It's China we're up to against here. You think China would easily turn their backs on this? I honestly don't think so. As it is currently under debate now, it may still go on and on for years.

Yep China would not easily turn their backs...how do you suppose China would reason with the makers of that International Law? that Spratlys belongs to them because it is written in their history, much like I own the moon because I saw it first? Philippines may lose that war, but I don't want war either. All I wanted is a change of name at least that part of the South China Sea that belongs to Philippine territories so that other countries will not be misled in the future as to who owns the islands - that is if it's indeed written in an International Law that Spratlys already belongs to the Philippines. Besides, if it's an international law that China is up against, wouldn't that be China against the world? I would just really like to verify first if that law actually exists, if not, then it's rightful to leave Spratlys alone and concentrate on other matters like solving the economic crisis of the greater Philippines. War is useless. If Spratlys does belong to the Philippines, with corruption and all those things, the Philippine economy will remain down. The income that those islands generate will never reach most of us. Only the few rich people will get their hands on those islands.

The U.N. through its UNCLOS have already drawn specific partitions for each countries involved in Spartlys, where all parties were given fair share of the disputed Spratlys. The problem is, these Chinese people (including Taiwanese) don't recognize or respect the UN resolution for that. The signed the document, but they seem don't respect what they have signed for. Greed creeps upon them. Are these people civilized just what they are claiming? I doubt.

The Taiwanese are claiming the Filipino who discovered Spratlys registered the Island in the international authorities illegally because they (the Taiwanese) were the one who first discovered it. If they were the first to discover the islands, why they did not register it immediately upon discovery? Whose mistake is it? It was their mistake why they just claimed it and not register. The Filipino explorer was just smart and knew what are the proper things to do when you discover a territory. Now, if it is their mistake, why are they blaming us? These people, the Chinese and the Taiwanese, they got cocky now with their new found wealth they seem no longer respecting international rules like those of the United Nations. The Philippines should not back out with this issue, because the international law is on our side.

Honestly speaking who respects the UN. It's just a rubber stamp.

I don't know, but peaceful settlement with negotiation should be the case here. maybe we would just give them in the end, or simply negotiate the western Philippine Sea area. corruption has led foreign countries to take advantage of the islands. they should talked about it now, before it's too late. besides, what's the worth fighting an oil deposit that would never be ours.

I will not feel glad, since we can not changed the history.
