Whew! I'm sitting here at 1:20 A.M. CST, MyLotting (insomnia strikes again...), & all of a sudden I hear a sound I'd almost forgotten...rain! It's pouring out there, & on the carport's tin roof, at that! I've always loved that sound; makes me sleeeeepyyy...(say! THERE'S an idea! LOL!). Is the long drought Texas has been suffering over? What about where you are? Is more rain to come? I don't know! Who cares! It's raining NOW! (Feature Maggiepie doing the Snoopy Spring JOY dance!) If I were a kid, I'd be out playi--hey, thunder!--um, playing in it! Rejoice with me, fellow MyLotters! God has given us rain, & BOY do we ever need it! We have been getting a lot of rain this year - unusual for Colorado but great for the ol water bill. I am glad your finally getting it! Maybe it can slow down some of the fires... sweet dreams!

Fires? Here in Texas? I hadn't heard! Seriously! I have a story about a storm I saw in Colorado in the mountains years ago. PM me, & I'll tell you about it! The rain lasted maybe an hour, & didn't even put me to sleep... "Raaaiiinnn! Come baaaack!" It is not really drought season here as there are occasional rains in the evening. But it is terribly hot during the day and I have to set the air condition to full blast to be comfortable. Like you I am also going through this terrible insomnia that keep me wide awake until the wee hours of the morning. Now it is our afternoon here and I try not to take afternoon nap so I can knock off early to bed.

There's been both flooding and drought, here in the U.S.A. Our area (Texas) has farmers & ranchers suffering. Any rain is welcome! It's too bad we can't drain the flooded areas & use that excess water here! I'm typing this Wednesday night, so the rain's long gone, now. Pity. Would've been grand had it stayed for at least a couple of weeks! Insomnia comes & goes for me. It's fortunate that I don't have a set schedule! It gave me fits when I did! In our place, it has been raining on an off for quite a time. So and so that some areas of our country has been affected by flooding already. I do like the rain, when I was a child, I always go out when there is a heavy rain to play. It really nice... but sad to note that there are places in our country right now suffering due to the flood cause by the heavy rains.

Hello! Have we met? If not, nice to meet you! Where is your place, if you don't mind telling? Yes, I agree. It's been bad all over for months, now. I forget whether it's caused by La Nina or El Nino...or even just garden variety sunspots, but I'll be glad when it's over! I used to love to playing the rain, too. Can't do it now, though, due to handicaps. But I can remember it well! I wonder why just standing in the shower isn't the same? Oh, well! I am also in Texas and let me tell you I am SO happy we have finally got some rain! (I am in North Texas) We got a pretty good down pour the last couple of days totaling close to 3 inches and we could not be more happy! It was getting really dry and got some just in time to try and "green up" the land for the fireworks. Maybe not to many idiots will start fires... Well any way I was so happy and I also like the sound of rain!

Anywhere near Denton or Dallas? Or even Waco or Humble? I've been to those--lived in Dallas & Denton (my favorite small town in Texas). Yes, I saw those big clouds passing over North Texas on the weather report. The very tip of that crossed Austin, but it did look dry behind that cloud, durn it. I believe our fireworks have been canceled by the city, for fear of fire. I couldn't go see them, now, anyway, but it makes me sad. I adore a grand display! There's another sound rain makes that I enjoy: the drip at the end of it when it lands on an upturned metal bucket--it sounds just like a kalimba! If you're unfamiliar with those--& who isn't, here in the U.S.!--that's a lovely African instrument that has a scale made of metal strips bound to a wooden box. There are finger holes cut in the back of the box, & to play it, one holds the box in both hands, places the thumbs on any of the metal strips & presses the desired strip(s), then lets go. In the back, one opens or closes the holes with one's fingers to vary the sound. The snap of the released strips makes the sound, which sounds just like...well, like rain falling on a bucket! I actually live in Wise County, just west of Denton. I love going to Denton when I need to shop for a large amount of groceries or clothes. It really does seem like the easier place to go for shopping and well, it is actually growing even more. They started building a HUGE development with houses, apartments, retail, medical, and office space. It is right when you come into Denton off of 380. As far as the musical instrument goes that sounds like a REALLY interesting instrument! I might have to dig up a little research on it! Hope you continue to receive rain showers just as we have up here lately in North Texas... Have a great day!

Oh, I know! I actually love storms! I used to live on a hill in the top of an old apartment building, with a view of the Austin skyline--allll across the plain at the edge of the hills. My kitchen had windows that wrapped all around it, & I'd sit there watching them. Once, a truly spectacular one blew in, & lightening was zapping fuse boxes on buildings all around me (ZzzzzzZZAPP! BOOM! Blue-green flashes everywhere!) Then I realized my roomies' poor dog was out in it on a metal chain, & roomie was off getting plastered! I crossed myself & ran out, & sure enough, Haiku was all twisted up in his chain! It took me 5 of the scariest minutes of my life to get his chain off, at which point he fled as fast as lightening himself! Roomie came dragging in during the wee hours, & had to go to the pound the next morning. Sure enough, that's where Haiku was. I "stole" Haiku later on & gave him to a nice couple from San Antonio, where I knew he'd be safe & loved. I loved that big red Lab/Setter mix. He deserves a post all his own. But as scary as that storm was, I still loved it! Someday, maybe I'll tell you about the storm I saw below me while flying to Europe... Wanna ship some down our way? Our plants got hit by the freeze, & now the drought's gonna kill off the survivors! "No yard work" sounds like a winner, though. Another thunderstorm last night, but the sun's shining this morning. The trouble with all this rain is it makes everything, especially the weeds, grow like, well, weeds. It's a jungle out there! A jungle, I say!

It's rained the last two days... pretty big thunder storms in fact. It was actually really eerie last night because my sister and I got out of the theater and the entire sky was flashing with lightning, but there wasn't a sound. Not even a low rumble! It was really creepy. It started pouring later on in the night and then we could finally hear the thunder. The day before that it stormed during the night. Were we in a drought? Maybe I'm not paying attention... I hadn't noticed! lol (I don't let the fact that I'm not a kid stop me from going out and dancing in the rain. )

Silence...hmmm.... Was it heat lightening? You know, big "sheets"--not bolts--of light that spread silently across the sky? That is spooky stuff. Where are you? Parts of the country are soggy with rain, while other parts, such as mine, are panting for rain! I don't let adulthood keep me from playing in the rain, either. My handicaps do that! No biggie; I have a store of great memories of doing it which I can replay any time I like! It's always great to play in the rain but since I'm already an adult, I would look like a moron doing that. Although one day I would like to see some chic wearing a tank top and short shorts playing in the rain. That would be a nice view, believe me.

No, I'm a girl who likes other girls. Of course I'm a guy. I'd rather take a risk on business and relationships rather than taking a risk getting sick because I played in the rain.
