hi chiyosan.
we don't have a one week meal plan at home but i do have a meal plan for myself. it usually follows the general motors diet but i have tweeked it a bit for my preference. Basically, it looks like this:
Monday - a tuna or turkey sandwich for breakfast and watermelons for the rest of the day ( i eat as much watermelon as i can)
Tuesday - veggies all day long (salads and steamed veggies and usually baked potatoes)
Wednesday - a mixture of veggies and fruits (again, mostly watemelon, grapes and berries, with some apples and pears)
Thursday - same as wednesday, veggies and fruits
Friday - veggies and some lean meat (i'll have an occasional burger if i crave but i usually eat only half a portion of the burger)
Saturday - same as friday but with little fruit for snacks usually raisins and berries
Sunday - back to veggies and fruits
so it can be a bit boring and tiring with my meal plan but i manage to go through it for a couple of months already. not only have i lose weight and my health has gotten better, i've also saved some cash following this meal plan.
hope this helps.
cheers!!!

hi chiyosan.
first off, thanks for the 'best response' tag. i always make myself available to put it my comments in discussions that interest me. i'm still following the same meal plan and it has been helping me a lot in maintaining my current weight. i'm tweaking the meal plan to include more fiber so i'll lose the last couple of pounds that i need to lose so that i'll get to my ideal weight.
wish mwe luck.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I don´t plan my meals week to week, but I keep a little of everything that I could posibly need. I have a small pantry and I made a list in Excell that has every one of the foods I use. Before going to the super, I check that list with my pantry. As for meats and such, I buy more than needed when there´s an offer and cut it up to serve my needs at home. I even grind my own meat and make my hamburgers.

You are very welcome. I love to answer discussions about cooking and food as I love to cook. It is one of my favorite hobbies.

I usually don't make a week full plan about the things I will be cooking. I plan for the weekend. I cook in bulk duirng weekend and use the left overs for another 3 days. So, I usually have food to cover for dinners from Monday to Wednesday. I make the food fresh for breakfast and lunch all the time. I don't like to keep food for more than 3 days in the fridge and eat it. Since my husband is not here right now and I have been living for a month alone, I started wasting food.
I feel so sorry to waste food becuase I see shows and news about people living in poor countries like Somalia. They are looking forward towards food and they really suffer from not having enogh food. I should not waste food. I usually cook frozen food on Thrusdays and Fridays for dinner because I feel lazy to come home from work and start cooking a big meal only for myself. I wouldn't mind and even enjoy it when my husband is here.

We only plan for specific meals that require certain ingredients (such as my dad's Signiture Chile Con Carne) but otherwise it's just a case of seeing what we have in the fridge on the night.

Good for you that you have a week meal plan. We don't have it at home, my mom doesn't do it. I prefer doing it though because that way, it won't be hard for my mom to think of what other meals she has to cook for the whole family. We do our weekly grocery though, but the ingredients are just not complete when my mom plans to cook something. So we have to run to the nearest grocery store, good think the grocery store is not that far from our house.

Hi chiyosan!
We don't do that. My mother does not plan our meals for the week. She does however, stock fish, meat, chicken, and the likes in the refrigerator. I guess our family is not a family of planners.
There was a time I heard my mother saying that she doesn't know anymore what to cook. She had lost ideas. She'd cooked all the dish she knows (and it wasn't that many ). So most of the times, we're eating the same dishes within a week.

Hi friend.
I do believe that planning meals ahead of time is more organized, cost effective, and conserves energy. Unfortunately, I don't do the cooking here in my mom's shop. It's my aunt (my mom's unmarried sister) who takes care of this stuff for the whole family. Alongside my mom's internet shop, my aunt cooks for college students during weekdays so she goes to the market everyday. We also stock up on some fish, meat, and chicken; in case the weather's bad that we can't go out and buy from the market.
But if I would be personally planning our meals for my own family, I would like to have a complete list of the necessary items for the kitchen for at least a whole week. This way, we can do shopping or going to the grocery store/ market only once in a week. It will absolutely save us time, effort, and money.
