I won't shed a tear on 9/11

We, as a nation, have to decide.. Do we want wailing walls, or inspirations for the generations? Do we want to wallow in self pity, or rise above our challenges? I will not shed tears on 9/11. I will marvel at how great a nation we must be to have no only survived the attacks of 9/11, but to have grown and prospered in spite of them.

We have our memorials, the books written, the movies produced, etc. Time to get up and get back to work. A moment of silence on that day is sufficient for me. Of course, I didn't lose anyone in those mass murders and might feel differently if I did but I'm a believer in moving on and taking action. The replacement buildings should have been completed years ago, soaring to the sky and representing a rude gesture to the organization that destroyed the originals and murdered 3,000 people in cold blood. We should not still be treating the event like it happened last year.

I don't think most people will be shedding tears. I think they just want people to remember what happened and not get complacent. I will personally admire our firefighters and first-responders. But since I did not lose anyone on 9-11 I can't fully understand what the families have gone through. I've lost family members and friends, but not like that.

Everyone will handle that day differently. If people lost a loved one that day then it might be hard for them not to shed a tear. Others like myself sometimes shed a tear just listening to others heartbreak.

I will give a moment of silence, and I agree with what you wrote.
