My apartment is totally mismatched, I have old style, new style, different pieces of furniture that I didn't purchase together.
Everything I own was pretty much giving or bought on sale so nothing really matches but I love it.
Some people have things that match from the sofa to the coffee tables, end tables, lamps and even pictures to match.
Are you a Matcher or a Mismatcher?

I have a great taste both for mismatched and homemade stuff. I kind of have given up on decorating, for a while, for various reasons. It may come back to me at some point. I love to make curtains. I have fabric on hand to have some chairs re covered. I will put together some discarded things to end up with all new items. I often have fun seeing what I can create. I have had people say they like my home, because it is "homey."

Actually I have two of them. One from Wal Mart, pretty plain Jane, and the other one from a yard sale. Originally I just wanted the cabinet, but this old work horse sewing machine is actually better than anything I can buy new. I have a serger as well, but have not used it in ages.

I wish I had some talent in sewing, I would make all kinds of things like pillows, couch covers, curtains and more.
You lucky that you know how and you must have a sewing machine.

I'm a mis-match fan. I guess in reality it's called being eclectic, but whatever it is, I enjoy that far more than having everything match. I feel more at home in a room that looks like it doesn't have to be show-room perfect every minute of the day and has that 'lived in and loved' feeling to it lol. In my rooms, I have antiques that have been passed down from different eras, as well as some modern type stuff and things I fell in love with at yard sales. My coffee table is an antique wooden trunk from the 1800's, and my sofa is a much more modern design...but it goes together well. Everybody that comes into my house always say they love it and feel right at home the moment they step into the door. I'll be a mis-matcher till the day I die, and I'm OK with that! To each their own: viva la difference :-)

Hello Joyful and missybear
I am mismatcher too.Actually I like matched rooms and home also but only when i have to spend there a little time.As I never arrange my room very well, some new things are aside my bed or in cupboard, some my old loving are always on my table.
Its quite living environment there but when if I will try it to make a matched room, I think it will be a very boring just showing off.
So enjoy you both.

I have so many different styles and the total adds up to my own style. I love my eclectic collection of things. There's classic, classy, cottage, shabby chic. I have my beloved collection of dragons living in a small cabinet on the wall above my collection of animal ornaments. most of my stuff is second hand and I make my own curtains.
I like to match colours, or at least have colours that don't clash but otherwise I guess you could say I'm a Mismatcher.

I do like my colors to match but I think mismatched furniture gives your home some character.

my whole house is mismatched
there is a little of my style, some of my husbands and some of the kids' stuff
if it all matched it wouldnt really feel like home
it would feel more like a hotel

I like it when it's a little bit of every bodies stuff, otherwise it's just to plain and boring

I'm a little of both. Pretty much everything that I have is used and either given to me or bought at yardsales, 2nd hand stores etc. Color is important to me so I make sure the color all coordinates. If it doesn't coordinate or if it is junky looking, well, a little paint can go a long way. I have all different styles but the color pulls everything together. My Kitchen table was beautiful but the top was very worn and covered with stains and the finish was worn off. I sponged on black and red paint and the polyutherened it. It looks amazing and I get a lot of compliments on it. My Kitchen curtains are the same shade of burgundy red and I got them on clearance for 4.00.

I do like my colors to match also, my kitchen we painted mint green and we put up green with yellow and orange curtains and my living room has green and light browns.
I do need to paint my dining and living room cause it's white and getting kinda dirty looking, I just haven't felt like doing it yet.

I would have to say that we have a mismatched home. We have some things that were handed down that totally don't match our other things. I do wish that I could afford to have a professional interior decorator come in and re-do the whole house. I love to watch home decorating shows and see how everything just goes together and matches with certain colors and styles.

I love watching those programs too and sometimes you get some good ideas for your home.

The only thing that I have matching is my glass dining room set that a friend of mine gave to me.

You know, there really is a part of me that would like to be able to have everything that we own be matchy matchy, but that isn't what we have at all. We have a very eclectic mix of things that decorate our home because of the fact that we had to take what we had and what was given to us and buy things to fill in the rest simply because we didn't have the money to buy everything new.
That is okay though, really because it is our house and our space and for that reason it is very comfortable for us.

Same here, lots of things were giving to me or are from second hand stores.
The only time I get something new is when my mom comes and buys me something she likes and she has very good taste so she helps me out in decorating and changing up a little.

Our house is the same too. We have some new stuffs and some stuffs are really really old. Mom says some of them were bought even before I was born But she says they are memories and don't agree on throwing them or even replacing them. We don't have all the stuffs in the kitchen matching too. And in fact we have our personal favourite ones that we use and they are really different from one another. SO yeah I think we fall in the mismatched category too
