Do you think its possible to beat a lie detector test? I really don't think its possible to beat a lie detector test since its very easy for one of those to pick up on our emotions and some times even when you don't show any emotions they can pick up on things like that, like body language.

The only way to beat a lie detector test is to be taught an lie as the truth. If you were taught that Germany won WWII when you are asked them who won WWII they will say Germany. he machine will not pick up the signs of lying because they Honestly believe it. they are trying to hide anything!

Agreed! It is your body trying to conceal a lie that the lie detector picks up.

Well I can only see that work if you where told some thing like that for years. But if your someone that has done something and then tries that its very hard to pass a lie detector test like that. Its hard to fool certain things when it comes to your own body.

Yeah the lie detector can some times pick up on it but also the person doing the test can tell by just looking at you if you are or are not.

It is very much possible. If someone is used to lying or trained to lie, there is a possibility that the detector will have a wrong result. The detector detects a lie by examining the the heartbeat,breathing,etc... so if someone controls those he will not be detected as lying.

When I am asked if I killed anyone,I will tell the truth. But I will hold my breath so my blood pressure changes.I will not look to the eye of the asker, and I will try to perspire so that the detector will detect that I am lying when I said that I killed anybody. The detector can be tricked...

Just because someone can trick a detector doesn't mean you can fool the person behind it. It's much harder then you probably thing to control your breathing or make yourself sweat. How many people in the world can make themselves sweat when they want to sweat? You got to think about that. Not even actors can do that.

I believe it is possible to beat the lie detector test. I mean, if the person is a smooth liar, I do believe that it doesn't affect any of his emotions whenever he lies. As for body language, lie detector test aren't used for that so... Anyway, did any of you watch the series Lie To Me? Some of the techniques to discover lying shown in the series are really interesting.

you said: "Our bodies some times can't tell lies." then why is it that if you see your child graduated in his school and received a school diploma on top of school's stage, why is it that you are crying instead of smiling or laughing? tears of joy right???? but a machine like Lie Detector Test interpret sometimes that "No" is "Yes" and the accused is put to prison jail even thou not committed any crime because that machine Lie unDetector Test pushes him to enter behind prison bars....

What does someone graduating high school have to do with lying. Anyone can fake cry with no real feelings its called acting. Which is a form of lying. I one wouldn't cry at my daughter graduation. I would be proud of her but I wouldn't cry. I don't cry of joy that often and that isn't even a enjoy moment for me but for her. Most police office do use lie detectors but they don't but all there eggs in that basked till they have strong evidence that, that person had done something wrong. Other wise there cause has no real support and it might be harder to convict them of a crime if any was committed. At least any real good police station would fallow those steps.

Well a lie detector person is trained in watching your body movements while asking you questions. Even a person that is very good at lying can't always beat a test. I think the person above is on the right track that you do have to be trained in knowing how to. I don't think many people outside of like police or FBI know how to do that with out the smile doubt in there mind. I can lie like there is no tomorrow and no one would know I'm lying but that doesn't mean my body, like my blood pressure, and heart rate. Even my own brain knows that its not the truth. This is why I think its kind of impossible to past with out someone knowing that your not telling them the truth. I have seen the show Lie To Me, I'm not that into the show but when I have watched it. It was pretty cool to see how this one guy knew that, that person wasn't telling the truth about something. Our bodies some times can't tell lies.

well it is debatable that somebody can beat the lie detector test.because it is made on the basic assumption that people no matter how great they are in telling lies there heart beat and blood presaasure rise momentiarially when they speak a lie to someone .there is lots of checks which are insured so that even a slightest indication is not missed.there is blood pressure monitoring system, there is heart beat detector system which sounds an alarm when the heartbeat rises, there is palpitation meter which look for increased activity of the sweat glands when a statement is said. but if we consider the possiblity of beating the lie detectoe we can see that the machine is based upon those indications which can be controlled and thereby aviod bieng caught so in my view its very very hard to beat the lie detector but it can be done surely

if Lie Detector Test are reliable to tell truthfulness, why is it that until now, this type of machine doesn't use in court as a basis of the judge, jury, and lawyer? we already know that beatings of our nervous systems are not an indications that if what she or he said are true or not.... here is an example: if a guy courts a girl because that guy is truly in-love with that beautiful girl: 1. If that girl says YES - its meaning is Yes 2. If that girl says NO - its meaning is still Yes 3. If that girl doesn't speak - silence means Yes Lie Detector Test are not reliable for sure.....

I agree with you zuliadesmond it is pretty hard to beat. Now to you mantis the reason that its not used in court, basis of the judge, and lawyer and the jury is that its not the judges job to judge that person its there jury that is judging what that person has done. The lawyer doesn't need to know that the person they are helping is or isn't a lair or did or didn't do what was said they have done. What jury is going to want to sit in court, and watch someone take a lie detector test and then have people come in explain this or that is the reason why the machine might not work the way we want it to. That is also why a lot of law enforcement doesn't like to use lie detectors aren't use in court because it would be a very boring talking and I'm sure the jury would fall a sleep. I know I would if I had to sit and listen to someone talk about it all of the time. But that doesn't mean they can't show the results of that test and let the jury themselves watch person in court to see if they feel by the way they are sitting, talking and there emotions as there base if someone has done something for sure. Anyone can fake anything and not really sell it. Not many people can pass a lie detector test and they are most of the time more truthful then untruthful because when someone they care hear you lied about this or that they have nothing less then to tell the truth or try to keeping lying and that person might now better then anyone else that that person has done something and is hiding something. It helps other people break down.

This is a very controversial topic but I sure would agree that lie detector test has its flaws and is not 100% accurate. It is a very sophisticated device for sure but no matter what, body response may vary from one person to another. So my body may give different signals when I'm lying in oppose to someone else's body signals. But yeah, whatever, people will lie no matter what - weather we use lie detector or not.

It is totally possible to beat a lie detector test. All you have to do it make yourself believe what you are saying so that it isn't a lie to you anymore. Many trained people can beat them and it is one of the reasons that they are not used as much as they used to be. They are not very accurate and they can be set off from a variety of different emotions such as anxiety which could boil down to just being nervous.

Well, i possibly agree with unw0rthy, it is possible to beat a lie detector is one manage to make oneself to believe that one is actually telling the truth. Theoretically saying, we can somehow hypnotize to make ourselves believe our lies and lie detector can't pick up a lie when we aren't lying rite?

no such machines can read a persons mind.... even science claim that Lie Detector Tests are not reliable and not accurate.... but a Lie Detector Tests is more truthful and reliable compare to Ouija Board or Spirit of the Glass.....

bokkers they can pick up on other things that can show that you are lie even your thinking about telling them the truth and some times your brain or body could possible give it way. I'm not a 100% sold on someone can pass a lie detector test. A lot of people can tell by your body language if your are are not telling the truth. I'm not saying that it isn't possible but I that is closer to more impossible then possible. If that makes any senses. Hey mantis36 explain please what Ouija Board or Spirit of the Glass is, if you wouldn't mind.
