Does prayers work for you?
I know a lot of people pray to go about a lot of things from help, to guides,or just ask for forgiveness or something.
I don't pray very much. I know a lot of people pray or talk to go every day or very night. I don't like it for myself because it makes me feel selfish if I'm always asking of God for something. I normally only pray to god if there is something happening in my life that I don't think I'm strong enough for or ready to handle I ask god to help me better understand what is happening, or for guides of some sort. I don't always get it when I want but I know he'll answer me some how some way when its really need it. I know when I was having my daughter I asked him to help me keep her safe for those 8 months while she was developing or if something was to happen to help me be stronger and move on if I wasn't meant to have her at that time.

I pray but I don't know why sometimes it doesn't work. I mean I know that we can't just pray for anything and it will come true but sometimes I don't get why it doesn't work. Like how when I ask for signs why I get nervousness and seizures, I don't get a sign. I always make prayer request but at the end I always say I'd rather have for everyone in my family and friends to be safe and they always do. Maybe that's why I don't get my other request because I had mention I prefer for everyone of my family and friends to be safe than to have my other request. Which I will always prefer. Thank you god for guiding my family and friends haha.

Some times what we ask for we don't get a sign for when we want it but later on. Some times the answer takes us a while to realize or see. I only ask for certain things like when I need help understanding something. Some times it takes weeks or months or even a year. Some times I pray for others.

I wasn't taught that at all. I ever really went to church a lot but I went enough to know what I need to know.

It is true that God helps those who help themselves. But sometimes we need someone to fall back upon.It is also true that God does not always help us but it is just mental satisfaction which we get after praying .
In my case i pray to God and thank Him for all the bounties he has bestowed upon me.As His child i always ask for health both in terms of heart and mind so that i can continue my journey of life with poise, grace and honesty.

I have to agree with bamrahkirti. sandra pray isn't always affective or accurate its what you make of it. Some times own self is what is keeping us from things we have to help ourselves before others can help ourselves. You don't need to believe in god or whom ever you believe in. All a pray is, is asking for something that you want or like to have. I believe in god, but I don't believe I need to pray or what ever to get him to help me. Most of the help I need in my life is my self not him. If I wanted understanding or something yes I might ask him or just look into myself for the answer. God wouldn't have been know with out people to write of him and half of the time I believe what is said of him. Word of god or not a pray is just talking that is it.

Prayer is not a religious form without power. It is effective and accurate and brings results. God watches over his Word to perform it. Prayer is the "Living" Word in your mouth. We must commit ourselves to pray and to pray correctly by approaching the throne with your mouth filled with God's Word.

Okay I really don't know what you mean by all that.
I don't pray ever day I don't want to and I don't need to for myself. I know god knows everything and see everything so there for I don't need to talk to him about anything really. If want understanding I might pray to him and get my answer but I don't want his holy spirit or what ever in me and I don't think you really need it in you for him to know your talking to him or for you to say his name for him to know your talking to him.
But that's cool you like praying that many times a day.

I don't believe god blesses people with things. That we do on our own. I don't think prayers will really get you anything. You can do it but it's your own self that gets you what you want with hard work.

I don't believe in god makes us do things or gives us things to keep good or bad things from happening to us. I don't think god controls any of that stuff it takes away from free will and nature as well. If I don't understand something in my life I might pray I might not pray but I don't need to pray to know why something is going on in my life most everything I do is by choice and my fault alone by taking the course I did.

You only pray when your sick? Isn't that kind of selfish thing to ask to make you better because your sick and not for something else like for straight or understanding?

I think we are in the same situation... praying at times when needed.. I recently accepted Christ and I guide my daughter in her night prayer. Even if I have nothing to ask from GOD, I will normally say a thankful prayer for each day. Now, I think I got to be more discipline in doing a morning prayer..

We are a bit different. I don't pray to god every day just when I need help in seeing something. I don't pray at night or morning not even for meals. I don't think someone has to get what they need. If it makes someone feel better to do so then go for it nothing wrong with it. I personally don't believe in prayers very much not even to thank him because most all things in my life I've done myself with out him with out asking him for anything at all. It should be a personal choice, I would never ask my daughter to pray or make her its for herself to choice.

its not a matter whether our every prayers are accepted by god or not.but when we pray to god whole heartedly and submitting ourself to him,we will get a beautiful pleasure and we feel more confident than before.god dont need us,bv human always need god's help in every situation.nothing wrong in asking whatever we want because he is our creator.

Okay well do you pray and for what reason do you pray?
As humans we don't really need god and god doesn't really need us. We don't have to ask him for help. He'll help us even if we don't ask for that help. Sometimes the best help is yourself and not asking someone that we can't see for help. Some things that people ask for are very selfish. Like taking one life to keep another life, or to have more money those are things that people do ask for but they never get it because the are being selfish. Asking for help or to better understand something are normal things that we will find with or with out god. There has been plenty of times in my life where I thought about asking god for help but I didn't and in the end I did it on my own.
It has to do more with that person and what kind of relationship they do or do not want with god. Even if you don't have any kind of relationships with him it doesn't mean he isn't there for you when you need it.
I don't really talk to god or pray to him unless its about understanding something in my life or asking for straight or wisdom or other wise I feel like I'm being selfish to ask god for things that I have more control over then he does.

Prayer doesn't always have to involve you asking something from God. Think of it as a conversation, with you conversing with God. I pray every night and usually I thank him for the day I just had and ask for a similar or better day. There will always be ups and downs in life and God is there to be your guide and hope. In my prayers, I don't only ask things simply for myself, I also ask him to guide and support those who are poor who struggling in life. I ask him to help my relatives as well and for those I care and love. So it doesn't always have to be you in the prayer, you can pray for anyone! It's nice to pray daily, it's like talking to God every day.

Well if I wanted to talk to god I would just do that but when you want something or looking for something you address it as a pray is what I was always taught. I almost never pray to god about anything not even if I just wanted to talk to him. I don't think I need to talk to go ever since he knows what is going on in mylfie and most of the time I can do things for myself with out his help.

I feel I can never pray enough though I think it is not the amount but the quality (from the heart) perhaps that counts. I do not thank or simply tell God enough or about how happy I am, when I am happy because in my happyness, I just enjoy it so and forget to pray - not like when I am unhappy. Something that has always worked for me is prayer in fact I am one of those that can say prayer actually saved me from some serious trouble in my life. Yes, prayers do work for me, like talking to your father about stuff.

Well I'm a women so I don't talk to my dad about to many things. I don't really like praying its not really for me. The only time I do is when I need some help with straight or something that is unselfish.

prayers do not seem to work for me i know sometimes prayers are not answered right away and i know you should thank God for unanswered prayers but sometimes it just seems like He is ignoring mine so i have pretty much given up on praying all together i prayed everyday and thanked God everyday for letting me be with a man that i loved then for reasons that were out of both of our hands and seemed like they were more in Gods hands we had to split up and i prayed that we wouldnt but praying did not work i know they say God knows what He is doing but i want to be in control of my own life

I don't really pray to go every. Some times I do but just to understand things that is it. Other wise I don't have anything to say to him that he doesn't already know.

Prayer doesn't need to be selfish. You can pray for other people too, your friends, your relatives and even people whom you don't know. Most especially, "pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven." I admit that I haven't been praying as often as I used to, but I'm always trying to improve the quality of my prayers.

From my stand put I think it depends on what we are asking for yourself. If its selfish then why should god give it to us and some times a prayer we ask for is answered in a way we just don't get. I don't like praying so I don't do it that often and I don't think it has to do with how much faith you have.

I always pray, however my situation. It is may be, each prayer does not just come true. But, I believe, one day, or without my knowing it, God answered my prayer. Praying is something good, something good must be done. So I always pray. At least, by praying, there is hope for my life.

I don't think everything we pray for comes true or will come true. Some things that people pray about doesn't come true because its something that god just can't do at all. Some people not saying you ask for selfish things, like more money or something like that.
If you like praying every day good for you and keep doing it as long as it makes you feel good and your happy about it.
