Just had a lovely hair wash. My hair is still wet and I can feel the aroma of the conditioner. It's feeling beautiful. All is not lucky to have beautiful nourished hair and I am one of them who is trying out all means to look after my hair health. Recently when my hair started to get frizzy, I started to take time out to take care of it. It's nothing much but helps a great deal. Washing the scalp is very important and then conditioning. Hair should be conditioned to the bottom. I leave the conditioning serum for some time and then rinse off thoroughly. And then mild towel drying and leave it to dry naturally. Nowadays, I hardly use hair iron.
How do you take care of your hair? Your tips and suggestions would help greatly.

Hi Mimpi!
I feel this post is specifically intended for feminine gender, yet am trying to contribute.
Lemon is easily available in our homes. You could take half a piece of lemon. Thereafter, you could squeeze the lemon and put lemon drops in a mug full of water before washing your hair. You need to basically rinse your hair with lemon water. It will not only nourish your hair but it will also give them good texture and this way your hair will remain black.
I understand you are already aware about use of coconut oil. Messaging our hair with pure coconut oil also helps to strengthen our hair.
Have a happy weekend and week ahead.

Lemon is good cleanser and sanitizer. I have used lemon juice in the last rinse for sheen and extra gloss. It works wonders. Coconut oil is also very good Deepak. I should start massaging my hair regularly.
How do you take care of your hair? And this is not a feminine post deepak. Feel free to contribute.

It is good to hear that you have already been using lemon juice for giving extra gloss to your hair.
I wash my hair almost daily only with Pears soap and when I need to massage my head, I prefer coconut oil for it.
I normally do not use shampoo as I understand that it has detergents as one of its ingredients.

hi mimpi!
it's always a nice feeling when we pamper our hair.
i always beautiful when my hair is shiny and smooth.
before i would not pay much attention to it but it's not the same growing up.
the more we should pay attention to our hair since it is our crowning glory.
my hair used to be straight but when i tried other other styles of cuts to my hair.
it became frizzy, wavy and thick! so i decided to have it re bonded.
i have used several products to maintain the re bonded state. like hair masks, treatment products. what i do now is shampoo my hair only twice a week as it would damage our hair if we use it everyday. i always use conditioner. i massage it before rinsing it making sure also that the tips are covered. i use vitamin treatment by Cream silk once a week to have that shine since it contains vitamin e that is good for the hair. i hope this helps.

Hi shane, that was quite a help! I think too much different chemicals used frequently can harm our hair. We need to condition our hair religiously, like you do. I really appreciate your dropping in. Thanks for the tips Shane.

Did you know that conditioner cleans hair, too? I have long, thick hair that gets frizzy. I rarely wash my hair with shampoo, unless it gets very dirty, or after it is dyed. I wash with conditioner. It gets just as clean, and does not destroy the hair.
In fact, there is a new product out called, "Wen" and it was developed by a top hair dresser in Hollywood. It is a cleansing conditioner. Once I use up what I have, I am getting it.
Shampoo actually damages the hair. Since I have stopped using it, most of the time, my hair is so much better and is always clean.
I also let it air dry, and if I need to style it, just before it dries, I will use the hair blower or curling iron, but if I want it curled, and have time, I will set almost dry hair in rollers and it works just as well, without adding heat damage.

Janet, thanks for telling me. I haven't tried it ever. Next time (Friday), I will definitely try only conditioning. I love the way you wear your curls. They are beautiful and as graceful as your dance. Recently, I have stopped using hair straightener for the heat thing, unless there is an occasion.

Yes, I use a lot of conditioner on the first round, then less on the second. I also use a leave in conditioner that holds down the frizz. Thank you for your lovely complement. That is an old photo. My hair is very long now.

Hi mimpi! I have very long hair and I wash it once or twice a week ensuring I use plenty of conditioner for coloured hair. I use a lot of conditioner which I comb right through to avoid nasty knots when the hair is dry. Once a month I colour my hair and use a special conditioning treatment to lock in the colour. I have long straight hair with a fringe. I trim my own hair and never use a hair dryer.

That sounds just so perfect Paula. No wonder your hair look so beautiful. It's easier to trim own hair when it's long and not frizzy. How often do you cut your hair?

I trim the fringe whenever it gets too long around every six weeks or so and I tirm the rest of it every three months or so...easy to maintain!

The only difference I do as opposed to you is I don't condition daily. I shampoo daily but condition 2-3 times a week. It seems to be enough for my hair. I don't blow dry and don't use an iron. That is what breaks hair and makes it brittle, dry and frizzy. It's something to keep in mind.

Makes much sense. Many times, due to time constraint, we tend to go tough with hair forgetting about the hair health.

Hair health is just as important as the rest of our appearance. If we don't take care of it our self esteem actually suffers.

It is lovely to have nice freshly washed and healhty hair.
I wash my hair every three days. Even though I am 53, it still gets very oily.
I do two washes, and one conditioning with each wash. I often use shampoo which is on special. I found that there expensive brands were not necessarily any better.
Admittedly I got pantene on specila two weeks ago ,an dit is very nice.
I love the apple or lavender scented shampoos or conditioners.

My favorite is apple, aloe and lavender as well. They keep me refreshed all day long. it's hard to get shampoos with natural ingredients, and I think our grandmas had been better off with less brands and home remedies. Thanks Jenny.

Well, for one thing, I have never used a hair iron. But maybe that is because my hair is naturally straight :-)
I think what we eat and drink has a LOT to do with the health of our hair. I drink a lot of purifed water and very few sugary drinks and very few carbonated beverages, except for an occasional plain seltzer. My favorite shampoo and conditioner are Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine. They smell terrific and make my hair always shiny and it just falls in place. I am not always brushing or combing it.

I have always been told that it is best not to wash your hair every day. I wash my hair every 2 - 3 days. I use shampoo and a deep conditioner. I also like to use hair serums and protective heat sprays on my hair. I recently read that using coconut oil is good for your hair so I am going to try that out tomorrow. What products do you use on your hair?

Hi Shar,
I, like you, wash my hair 3-4 times during summer months. I use conditioner and try to oil my hair once in a week. Coconut oil has beneficial impact on hair, I heard. Thanks dear.

The one thing that I know that is really good for my hair is that I very rarely use a curling iron or a blow dryer on it and I also don't use any product on my hair except for shampoo and conditioner. Another tip that a beautician told me a while back was that when you were washing your hair, use hot water to wash the shampoo out because the pores of your hair will be open, then when rinsing out the conditioner, use cool water so that it will close the pores of your hair back up.

My hair is pretty thin and quite vulnerable so I try to keep it healthy. I use a baby shampoo with conditioner in it. I love using it because it always leaves my hair all soft and nice to touch. But the smell kind o gives it away that it is a baby shampoo, my friends laugh at me when I told them that I use a baby's shampoo. Normal shampoo for adults tend to ruin my hair and makes it feel really rough and my hair tends to fall out. Dry hair naturally, blow drying makes your hair burnt, so try not to blow dry too much. I also try to keep a healthy diet to grow my hair. I have been starting to eat proteins, like peanuts to grow my hair and keep it healthy. It makes it grow faster too!

That sounds great! I know someone who has been using baby shampoo and baby lotion since childhood and she has amazing skin and hair! I have tried using baby shampoo for a few times. But then that made me wash my hair every two days which I couldn't do. I have to rush for the office early in the morning. But using baby shampoo once/ twice a week would be really beneficial for the hair.

It indeed makes us sad. I become so upset when my hair starts to fall. If your hair is falling heavily, I think you should wear it short for the time being. That would arrest the falling immediately.

I think we use too much to our hair, such as shampoo, canditioner etc.But i think the chemical synthesis things unnescessary. Our ancestors didn't use these, but their hair is not poor.I used the chemical things before, but my dandruff become more and more.In the end,I decided not use the shampoo anymore,i wash my hair only use the pure water. Then my dandruff gone away.

I think you are right. The chemicals do a lot of damage and it's hard to believe the tag lines that the products come with. also, choosing the suitable brand amongst hordes is quite a problem.

In addition to all conditoners, shampoos, drying, it's important to make sure that we maintain a healthy diet which is rich in protiens and vitamins. At the same time keep a check on stress. Air pollution and water pollution too have a detrimental effect on hair. The natural methods of hair conditioning and care have been kind of intriguing (Grandmother's therapies). Have you given those a try?

What? Henna, shikakai, eggs, tea liqor, lime juice etc.? Hardly. I should start to do a few. Thanks for telling me. Since pollution we cannot deny, we can wash our hair more often. I have been using soft shampoo to wash off my hair since I need to do it more often nowadays. Thanks.

hi,
i love my long hair and i really take care with my hair because its really hard to prolong our hair and it will take more than two years to make it longer, that is why i always use conditioner to maintain the beauty of my hair and shampooing it every two days.

Well like a usually else do, shampoo and conditioning. I use a lot of conditioner and it was more concentrated at the ends, this is brittle that tends to easily break, that's why we should put more in ends. And every month I go to a parlor to trim my hair at ends only.

Regular trimming is one thing that I wasn't doing until recently. Now, I do it every 2 months. And after I have started conditioning my hair after every wash and condition it well, my hair has improved a lot. Thanks airkulet for your tips.
