I couldn't agree more with you. I used to spend so much time in Facebook before. I was addicted with its games and applications because of this, I can't do anything productive. That's until I found out that it is possible for you to earn online.
Now I rarely log in to my Facebook account. I find mylot more enjoyable and informative than those kinds of social networking sites.

I think it is basically useless....to a point. It can be good for staying in touch with lots of people, but at the same time... I look at some peoples friends list and they have several hundred "friends"...yeah, right! Nobody can have that many friends and stay in touch with all of them....meaning respond to ever post they make etc. I think FB has gotten out of hand and out of its original use or creation.
I was "facebooking" long before FB came around.. it was a site called MyFamily.com. One person was the "administrator" of the page and that person invited whoever they wanted to join. Then, same as FB...any members could make a post, chat back and forth and do all the picture posting and such. I did that for my family....oh, they all joined, but none of them would participate! ONly time they did was when I posted a birth announcement for my grand daughter. Other t ha that...no one said anything! Until my sister posted something, mad my SIL mad and they batted the argument around a few times until I shut the site down.
My FB...no one really says anything of any importance. one sentence with abbreviated words and a silly photo or one word comments... things like that. Kind of a waste of time. I just did this week tho, sent some pictures from my teen years to a friend that posted them and alot of those in the pics saw them and made nice comments, but other than that...has anyone said a word to me about them or complimented me on doing that or sparked up a conversation about our relationship back then or the memories? Nope. I check it daily, but other than that...don't put to much time into it.

As for me if I am chatting about non-sense things then I'd say it is really a waste of time. In my case I chat with friends at facebook over important things only so it is not a waste of time for me. Now those who chat at facebook may have reasons why they do so. It depends on them if they find it a waste of time or pleasure. It all depends on the person chatting actually what pleasure or benefit he gets from it.

Chatting on FB isn't a wast of time for me. If I need to talk to someone I can't get them any other way I send a message to them on facebook. I'm not going to sit here waiting to hear back from them right way because now message is ever instant. I know as soon as they see it they will send my a messaged back like a person should. Its only a wast of time if you just sit there all day on facebook waiting for something or someone to talk to you. This is why my facebook is all for my family because I know they will talk to me.

I don't find Facebook a waste of time. It is a great way for me to keep in contact with family in friends that do not live in the same area as me. It is free to talk to them online, where it costs money to talk on the phone, etc. I don't have to pay for internet either, so that makes it even better for me. I enjoy the games on there as well. I play on Facebook all day at work, as it passes time. But, I don't feel like it's a waste of time at all!

Well, the truth is, chatting will never be a waste of time, not unless you have something else to do. That is the point of social networks. They allow you to mingle with people.Afternoon naps can also be a waste of time if there are tasks to do. But if these tasks are being done, then afternoon naps become recharging. So it really depends. Instead of the cellphones, many people use facebook instead. There are many students tasked to do group work, and they do it through facebook. However, I would not say that I totally disagree with you. For very young girls who, instead of staying with their familes, end up in the room chatting with friends about useless things, that is a waste of time. Therefore, I guess it really depends on how one uses the social sites.

I think it is not a waste of time. Through chatting, I can communicate with my friends and my family. Chatting will be a waste of time if you do not use that feature properly. Besides, you cannot center only your attention to chatting, you can browse also some photos, play some games, comment in different statuses and many more.

that depends on the purpose. If people need to discuss something important then it's not a waste.
Usually and sadly, people overdo it and that's a waste of time. XD
I don't like facebook that much. and only Mike gets to have the money heheheh

You said it right, I have a teenage son who stays awake up to wee hour of the night as you are about to sleep. I do not understand why He can stand that long. I found out He is chatting with different formed groups of different interests. I told myself, what a waste of time and that is for me and I do not know for them if they are using it to have an exchange of views and ideas in their lesson or they are making it to have their group study in distance. Well maybe it depends on how they are doing it to satisfy or benefit themselves.

I don't think so. Do you think watching a film or listening a song is waste your time? Nowadays, more and more people use Internet so I think Internet is a good way to entertainment. For me, chatting with friend or post a comment on Facebook help me decrease stress and update information from my friends. May I know a new wedding of my friend from another one via chatting. That helps me conect to everyone.

Yes,I agree with you that chatting with facebook friends is just a waste of my golden time. Most of my friends want to talk about unimportant things. They will just say ''hi'',and I will reply ''hello'' because I don't want them to think that I am ignoring them. When I replied ''hello'',they will ask some questions like ''how are you?''I don't really like responding to such question because the answer to that is ''I am fine.''
The things being talked about facebook chat are really not so important so I no more access facebook a lot now.I prefer mylot.:)
