Heels!

Last night I watched my daughter and her friends go out. They all tottered on their heels and one girl defied gravity in my opinion. Her heels were so high that I just could not understand how she managed to stay upright! Are you a heel wearer? Did you take to them easily or do you find them ungainly and strictly for fashion statement purposes? What are the highest heels that you have worn. I am nudging close to half an inch! LOL.

i am a heel wearer. i choose heels that are not too high or painful. they should be comfortable enough. i wear them to look good, not just for fashion, but to make myself look taller. i'm a short girl you see. heels make me look slim and attractive, it helps with my esteem, hehe, though i don't wear too often, i don't want to get a sprain.

I used to wear heels every day for work, though I admit that I tended towards boots rather than shoes as they stayed on better as I ran up and down stairs all day. Heels were my shopping weakness and I had loads of pairs, including some truly ridiculous pairs. My favourite pair were actually a pair of autumn orange boots tied with silk scarves. Very flashy, but very impractical! When I moved I got rid of the lot, and now when I have a posh do to attend I borrow a pair from my sister. they normally kill me as my feet are now better used to work boots than stilettos!

I took to heels like a duck takes to water!!! Most of my heels were 6 inches or better. When I was in my 20s the platforms were in so the heel length might have been longer. I was 5' 4" & had one pair that I adored that made me 5' 11". I wore heels so often that I could barely walk in flats!!! I even went hiking in my 6" heels!!! If I walked in flats for any longer than an hour, my calf muscles would get so sore I could hardly walk. This lasted through my 30s. Once I reached my 40s I had to have an operation on my foot...yes it was caused from living in heels. After that operation, I was never able to be comfortable wearing heels once again. Now that I'm growing older & doing my best to do it with grace, I no longer even attempt to wear heels. My feet just can't deal with it anymore & my tushie no longer appears cuter when realigned by the heels!!! The Today Show did a segment on the current fashion style now days. The doctor assisting them pointed out that he heels now days are way too high & most definitely dangerous for the young ladies attempting to wear them!!! They showed a professional model attempting to walk the runway in a freakishly high heel & she dayum near broke both her ankles & her neck. Now I'm glad that I'm too old to be tempted to attempt the latest style!!!

I do love high heels but I can't wear them for any length of time because my feet start burning. I've tried allsorts to alleviate this but, alas, nothing works.
On New Year's Eve I had to come home and change my attire as my heeled (only about 3 inches high) ankle boots were giving me grief.
I now wear flat boots or shoes all the time.
I sit here in amazement at the height of Claudia Winckleman's shoes on "Strictly." I also love the way she dresses.

I used to love my heels. Anywhere between a 2 inch and a 3 inch heel would don my feet daily. Now that I am teaching, and on my feet, and up and down stairs all day every day, I am wearing flats. I am seeing that my posture is not as good as it was, because heels force you to stand up right.
My highest heels were 4 inch silver sandals that I wore to prom when my date was over a foot taller than me.

I think I may have managed a couple of inches but they were wedges I think you call them. I don't know, they might be called something else. But I mean those where the entire sole is the same height, not proper "heels". I can't do them. I think I tried once or twice. I just find them really uncomfortable and I am much more of a "comfort" person than a "fashion" person. I'm not going to sacrifice comfort so that I can look the same as everyone else!
I don't know how some people stand up in them. I've had a couple of pairs of shoes and sandals with small heels and really struggled with them. Having large feet, it isn't easy getting nice shoes without heels though, certainly not without making me look like I have clown feet. That's why I prefer boots and trainers!

I wear heels for work and every time hubby takes me out of a date.
Back in my teen years, I would wear heels almost every time I go out because I was so vain, probably because I used to be a model. But now whenever I have my son with me whenever I'm in the mall, I always wear flats or sneakers. It will be crazy for a mom to wear high heels when she needs to chase after an active child that runs around the mall, imo.
The highest I've worn was 4 inches. I can never go back to my "high heels" phase because my doctor warned me of the danger it could inflict on my back. I have scoliosis and high heels can make the curve worse. So now I only wear heels for a very short time.

I've never worn those too high heels, stilettos I think they're called. I guess the highest I've had were two inches. I still do not think they are all that good looking. Don't see how some women stay up on them. Right now I don't own a pair of shoes with a heel over an inch.

I liked high heels from a very young age, I remember I was wearing my mum's shoes and looking myself in the mirror. Now I am wearing shoes with high heels only when I am going for a drink or if I dress formally because it's not comfortable for me to wear them every day and my feet are tired. I can walk, dance and stand on heels for many hours I just can't do it everyday.
I think the highest heels I have are 12 cm and they are wedges so they are more comfortable, but with the new fashion in pumps that are thick in the front as well the heels might be higher that that.

In my younger days I wore 6 inch heels daily. My Granny used to say "I would fa' on my heid wearing those peerie heels" (Scottish dialect). Now I am an old geezer daring to wear 2 inch heels.

Hi Pike,
It was in my teens I started wearing high heels and alwsy wore them for many years, they were good for my posture, as well as giving me the height-being a shorty it felt good to be able to be at a higher level! I have always worn boots with high heels at least 4" too. Obviously sometimes they were uncomfortable but there was always a way round that.
There are a few pairs aound the house now but they are only about 2" high and they are comfortable, yet at the moment I only wear flat shoes.
Hugs

I tried them once when I was 18 and lasted about 30 seconds! I was born with flat feet so have to wear shoes that support my arches so pretty shoes are out of the question for me. If I could--and I would love to--wear nice shoes I would wear the ones with no or low heels.
My mom wore heels her whole working life and had a lot of foot problems because of it. Her toes were misshapen and she had to have surgery on one foot later in life. She looked fabulous but told me and my sister to avoid high heels at any cost!
One of my big gripes is that it is hard to find shoes with no heels and if I'm looking for sandals it's even more difficult. Sandals are supposed to be comfortable but most of them have heels 1/2" or higher. Luckily, I inherited a pair with no heels that will last me for years.
I can't see putting my feet through that misery, even if I could, to achieve a fashionable look. I guess I'm just too practical to be stylish!

Flipflops! Not terribly pretty but they are flat. Actually here we have some very good shoe shops and many of them sell flat sandals. My daughter buys them. The Boss hates shoes and wears crocs that she bought in Singapore two years ago. She's going again in January, i hope that she buys some new ones because I am fed up seeing her current ones.

Be careful admitting that "I am nudging close to half an inch!" You might want to keep that information private my friend!

I love high heels and wear them frequently. I think it depends on the shoe though. The comfortable ones are really comfortable no matter how high. I have this one heel shoe which is not so high but i cannot walk properly on it. I think it's how it was made or something, makes me feel like the heel's about to break. But I have other high heels and they are very comfortable. But yes after I reach home after the day out, my feet will have some blisters.

I am not a heel wearer. I am more into flat shoes. 3 inches would be the highest I've ever worn during a formal party and guess what I ended up sitting the whole time.lol. I found this site www.lifo.com and have nothing to do so I juts want to share them to you. It is an online hub for girls that let them have their own virtual closet, read and write about the latest fashion, beauty and celebrity trends.
