Do You Have Any Experience With Moth Balls?

I have a box of clothes I want to put in storage, and my girlfriend said I should put moth balls with them to keep the bugs out. Now I don't know much about moth balls......I remember my grandma talking about them, and I think there was a "Little Rascals" episode that had something to do with moth balls......but I personally don't have any experience with them. So my question is......do they just neuter the moths to get their balls or do they actually have to kill them to harvest their tiny jewels? .......and how many moths do you reckon it takes to fill a box with moth balls? .......Anyone?

I understand the problem for most people is having a good enough aim and being fast enough to hit the little blighters while they're engaged in head butting the lighting in your room...good luck with that..

I don't feel the need to use them myself,as I haven't noticed much Moth activity in my wardrobe..but going back in Memory,It would be a smell I'd associate with visits to My Grandparents!

thats very cute and im sure you are jokeing since they are called that because they come in ball form and keep mothes away. anyway, its hard to get rid of the odor. i used them once to spread around my doors in florida because of snakes.guess they keep lots of stuff away cause they really stink, ive used cedar blocks. sometimes you can find small closet cedar blocks and ive used those for the packing things away smells much better when you get them out.

O-0 Sundays in your house are fun and make me smile. Now, the mouths are put to sleep.... a very long sleep, in order for the balls to be used. The box gets to smelling a bit ripe after a bit so your clothes will need a good washin' after you get them out of storage.

Actually the number of moth balls depends on the size of a box. If it is a big box, then probably 3 or more will do. Actually, previously i don't like the smell of moth balls. But now, i came to like it.

my mom uses moth balls and put in on drawers and cabinet to get rid of the cockroaches inside..also it can leave a smell on your drawer and cabinet and you can really tell if a cabinet or drawer has moth balls because the scent of it is all over and it can also pass on to your clothes..moth balls are those white round thing you can buy in the supermarket. i think the smell of it can cause the cockroaches to get away from a cabinet or drawer..i hate the smell of it and i wouldn't want to use it..

I must admit I have never used mothballs. I really do not like the smell. You know, I haven't really had any problem with moths or bugs eating the clothes either. Are we sure mothballs are really needed???
