I suffer from prickly heat rash whenever I go in the sun. I was wondering if anyone else does and what they do to prevent it from happening. When it does happen how do you treat it? I am itching like mad and sore at the moment.

You need to have lotions with SPF 15 to 20 before going outdoors under the sun. Some people used to put vaseline, the lube type.

Have you tried AMMENS powder? I use that with excellent results. I have also seen recommendations for baking soda but that burns my skin, some people use the underarm deodorant in the areas of the rash also to prevent sweating there, but I am not sure that that is medically safe, I have used it and it works but I was a bit uneasy about doing that.

You need to cool down your body temperature. Hydration can really help you. Drink at least 1-2 glasses of water every hour to keep you hydrated. Also try to avoid dry foods such as fried, broiled or grilled, as well as oily foods. To treat this, there are powders that made for prickly heat. But I suggest that you make your own powder. Just mix baking soda and cornstarch in equal parts. This can be applied to the affected area. Baking soda gives that cooling effect while cornstarch absorbs the sweat. Hope this will help.

I sometimes get heat rash as well. Obviously, stay cool as much as possible, and avoid getting too hot or worked up. I seem to get it at night so I have to make sure I don't have too many blankets on that would be causing me to overheat and get the rash. Taking a cool bath or shower will also help cool down your internal temperature which will help the rash to go away.
