So I always thought if you join twitter you had to have a cell phone to post things. this morning I was so sad that things go on there from another site I go to to make points. my youngest son said, no you can join on your pc. Its kind of like FB. But I joined. now it just seems like its going to be another site that just sits there. What good is it? so many sites that get you nada anyone know what good it is?

Clearly the success of twitter and facebook is due to the need for many to talk to themselves! It is a collective insanity that has taken over the world.
Those that still have a little sanity left are here on mylot making discussions.
But the lucky few that are so far uneffected by this curse, are out in the streets, talking to each other face to face!

If people wanted to talk to themselves, all they have to do is to put twitter and Facebook offline so no one would see their message or opinion. Facebook is good for giving friends information such as when friends of us were telling us that their baby was finally coming home from the hospital where she had been very sick and Twitter is good for political information. And I cannot see me getting on a bus, paying g the fare and going to tell someone something important when all I can do is either put it on Facebook or Twitter.

I have a Twitter account but haven't been there for awhile. It's nice to be able to follow people and businesses that you enjoy. For myself, it was mostly for work, but I slowly developed a following myself and when I "tweeted" (I still think that's nonsense!), the views on certain articles that I've written went up, so I know people were following the links I posted. Other than that, just being on good terms with people I respect is nice.

I actually like Twitter. I think it is a good place to promote referral links as well as just posting small Tweets about what is going on. I have some celebrities as my friends on Twitter and it is enjoyable to see what they Tweet about. I use mine mostly everyday and use it mostly for referral promoting. But I from time to time Tweet something stupid there.

I have gotten a few referrals on some sites through Twitter. But I post my links there all the time. You never know. I also have some auto surf sites that I use to promote my links. I do enjoy Twitter though. Sometimes I post something stupid myself. But I do not spend my entire day on there.

I think the best thing about it is people are limited to only 140 characters. That means if I start reading stuff, it isn't too long before I realise it's a load of shyte. Other than that, I can't see a use for it.

I am a big fan of Lady Gaga and she has over 20 million followers. I worked out that if I joined as her follower today and she replied to 100 a day in turn I would receive a personal tweet in about 550 years time. Is it worth the wait?

Twitter is a social network/social media site.
So, if you are not interested in connecting with your friends via it, or if you are not interested in getting updates from your favorite actors/products/corporations, then Twitter wouldn't mean anything good for you..

For the casual user, Twitter can be like a quick stop at the fabled water cooler. Just a quick catchup on the latest news and gossip. You can also easily find people who have hobbies in common. Go on Twitter and do a search for Mylot and see if anyone comes up....
For the consumer, Twitter gets problems solved. Big business actually hire people to monitor keywords and quickly resolve problems. One blogger, TheBloggess.com, can actually shut down a website if she mentions it on her tweets...now that is power!
Another reason for Twitter is the fact that Facebook has too many options. Sometimes I am just in the mood for a quick note but I am easily distracted with Facebook. Since my Twitter is set up to go directly to my Facebook anyway, problem solved.
I also earn a few dollars with Twitter using sites such as sponsored tweets and mylike. I also have my blogs feed directly into Twitter which has garnered me a few visitors.

Hi bunny,
I like both mylot and facebook. Mylot is my first choice. Here I got many interesting friends. But in facebook there is scope to contact face to face.
Yes there are many sites where we can make fun. Really these sites made the people of the world so close.

You can use Twitter as a means of getting information by following people or companies that interest you (and I don't mean Ashton Kutcher). For example, if you follow a sports team, you can get faster information regarding some events for the team by following reports who cover the team.
If you want to, you can also use Twitter for sending private messages to people you connect with. If you control who your followers are you won't be broadcasting to the world.
Also you can use FB for personal contacts and Twitter for business. I seldom 'tweet' but I have picked up a number of followers just because of my business profile.

I understand how you feel . I also don't know how to go about twitter. I do have an account but that was because I got curios and because it was somewhat "in" back then. I was never active and i was very afraid to log in because I really don't know how it works and people who sees me logging in my twitter might ask for me to follow them and I don't know how I am just so ashamed. But now, I am trying to understand it more and trying to somewhat learn how to go about it. So far, I still can't understand it. I'm comfortable with my facebook for now, twitter isn't just my world.

Hi bunnybon
When I started my Internet working, all around said FB and Twitter and a lot many others are essential. I opened up accounts with almost all they suggested. And today, only FB is the one I use. that too - FB was closed for me for more than 2 years, last year when my cousin said we can all connect via FB I re-opened only to find that my account was only de-activated and never closed
Now, today, I am lost and really dont know what to make use of all these social media sites... I think MyLot is the only place where I am comfortable with

I think Twitter is a site mostly for the rich. I notice that it is plastered with things from the rich and famous.
One good thing a person could do with Twitter is give a tweet a day for the pastor who was placed in prison for being a Christian. This happened in Iran. Many nations have this and I am told that it is a great public awareness site.
Many famous people use twitter to connect to their fans, and have many followers. Just boosts their popularity. I am very rarely ever there to check anything, but I am trying to get people to follow my tweets for the pastor, and also for the very few tweets I composed over the last 8 months.
I mostly do Christian related things with it, but no one seems interested in what I have to post. But that is ok. I am doing other things to get the word out.
Thanks for the discussion.

Bless you in your accomplishments. yes, not enough people are interested in christian things these days. probably why most think the world will end soon with all the evil in it.

I have a twitter account. One of the things I participate in gives me points for tweeting. I also tweet my swagbucks sometimes. I know some people look at their tweets all the time. I know that when you have enough followers there are ways to have sponsored tweets, but I never have gotten around to doing it. When I have a bzzagent campaign I tweet about the products and then I am offered MyPoints for the tweet and for other activities that I do, like post on Facebook. Twitter is not as interactive as FB, but I really do not care for either of them like I do MyLot.

It is more to do with if you feel strongly about something or have a great interest in something, so you tweet a message such as "I am all in favour of chocolate," that leads to your recipe site or whatever interest you have. Then you follow those, for instance, those who also love chocolate, and they give suggestions of who has your same interest. Also if you have an interest such as Classical music, and you follow a composer, or singer, you may get notices when they will have a concert in your city before anyone else who does not tweet does.
That makes it different from Facebook that is mainly a friend site.

I have a Twitter account, but I don't use it I signed up because I wanted to see what kind of site it was. I visited it a few times, I choose to follow some my favourite artists and got a few followers myself, but I haven't visited the site for months and I never really became an active member there. I have bookmarked the site and I have a profile, but I don't actually use it. Maybe I should have a look at the site again and find out if it is site that I want to use or not. I think that it is about time that I have a look at my bookmarks and delete the sites that don't use.

Personally, I have no use for Twitter. I do have an account there, but almost never use it unless there's a swagcode there. I think it's mostly for people who like to use a short-hand version of English, since each entry is limited in characters. Hahaha - that's stress I don't need.

I just smile upon reading thy wonderful post because you joined something without knowing what to do with it. I haven't joined twitter because I also, like you doesn't have any idea what to do with it. Therefore, if it may be good in thy sight, I would suggest to depart from any site like twitter when you can't find any good use of it. It is just a disturbance in our sanity, or should I say time, and other important activities. Have a wonderful day ahead.
