What do you think if you can't eat in the cinema?

Try to imagine that it is not allowed to eat in the cinema, what do you think? If my husband and I go to see a movie, we don't need to eat inside since we pay more attention to watching the movie. However, if I go there with my son, then usually I will bring the snacks and drinks so that he can enjoy staying there. Then he will find it fun to eat and watch movie in the cinema. After all, sometimes asking the child to sit in the seat well for a long time is not so easy I try to let him not to feel bored there.

Hello youless
I do not mind not eating or drinking in the cinema. In fact, many many times I do exactly this thing.
But sometimes it is fun to eat and to drink in the cinema. You are correct that the children usually enjoy the eating and the drinking whilst in the cinema. I know that my three boys enjoy eating the snacks and drinking the drinks in the cinema.
Peace

Yes, good point. If the humor movie is very humorous, the sounds of the laughing can mask the sounds of the crunching and the eating of the snacks and the slurping of the drinks. If the movie is horror or sad it is often too quiet and the others can hear the eating.

I tend to try and eat before I see a movie. Paying $8 for popcorn is just ridiculous. I can't help but buy a drink though, cause I always seem to be thirsty. Sometimes you need a good distraction if the movie is lousy.

The theters in the US don't allow this. You can get kicked out if you're caught

I think the cinema itself would be nuts if they didn't sell refreshments. THey make alot of money from this. I usually have to have a drink but usually if I am by myself I don't need alot of other stuff because, like you, I concentrate on the movie. I have usually eaten before I came anyway.

If it is the cinema's policy that nobody is allowed to eat inside, then i will be more than happy to oblige. I am sure i can always go to the restaurant and eat after the movie, or eat first before i enter the theatre. Either way, there is always a reason why cinema want to prevent their audiences from eating inside the viewing room, usually it is for the good of everyone in general rather than bad, main reason is to prevent unneccesary noises created during the shows, or to prevent food bugs and fries from coming into the cinema. If you ever witnessed the aftermath of the viewing room's mess where food is allowed to be eaten during the shows, you probably will see the point of such a policy, it is usually a big pain for the crew to clean up the room whenever food is allowed in the cinema.
If parent do not want their children to feel bore, then they should bring them to disney world or go watch cartoon movie, instead of cinema for the grown up, it is just a simple solution for obviously a very complicated problem in the mind of those parent.

I do have a good solution for these type of people, they can always build their own home cinema and eat all they want to their heart content in the privacy of their own home, instead of doing it in a public cinema that irritate other movie goers in the cinema. Issue solve and everyone is happy.

I don't eat in movie theaters mainly because the food they serve is just gross. The popcorn is bathed in oil and butter, and I actually really like popcorn, but I can't eat that unhealthy stuff. If they served carrot sticks and veggie chips, I might buy something. But then again I might not because they'd probably charge through the roof for it and I've probably already splurged to get the movie ticket. lol
I eat popcorn at home, but only if I can air-pop it myself. That way it's a very healthy snack.

I also use the microwave at times, but I have an air-popping machine that I prefer to use.

I don't eat in the cinema, i think it is good if it is not allowed to eat in the cinema because people in here have bad habits, after watching movies, i saw cinema is in mess with full of bottles and the corn bags. They just throw it under their legs after eating...i used to blame it with my friend but they ask me...what should i do?

I think if I was not allowed to eat in the cinema I would eat right before going into the cinema are right after . I also dont need to always eat when I go see a movie because I normally eat after and some time I also have a light snack before the movie .

When I was a child, eating at the cinema was a part of the total experience. Then it became so expensive that it was almost prohibitive. Later, I outgrew the movie "food." Now if I go to see a film I will eat beforehand.

When I was a child, it was not permited to eat at the cinema in my country. At the most we could smuggle some candies, as long as we did not make any noise while eating it. I was quite shicked the first time I went to the US when I saw people eating porcorn and you had to he careful where you placed your hands because some people left their chewing gum stuck on the chairs. I thought it was gross and I still do up to some point. We don´t take any food to the thetre or to the opera or ballet. I don´t know why we should be less respectful at a movie.

I thin that it will be awful. There is that rule in a play/theater too.. and i just can't help myself.. since the play runs long and i get hungry.. i secretly eat.. I hope that never happens in movie theaters since it always more fun to eat while watching a movie.

I dont usually eat or drink inside the cinema so I don't really care if they ban eating inside the movie houses. I only eat inside the movie houses if the movie starts at 7pm :) unless otherwise, I would not eat in the cinema. besides, restaurants or food stalls near the cinema are pretty expensive. they try to get every penny out of you.

To tell the truth I don't be bored if I can't eat in the cinema. What really boring me is the movie itself. So if the movie is my love,I think I can concentrate on the movie.

I wouldn't mind it though it seems I get thirsty in the theater without eating or drinking. Usually as soon as I get home I have to drink a lot for some odd reason. We have to sneak food in if we don't want to pay for it.
I've taken my nephew to the cinema, and had to buy him snacks because he likes that experience.

I generally dont eat in the cinema and I dont like to eat in cinema. The movies which I generally watch in theatres are really great movies and i really like to concentrate on just the movie and no other activities. So I prefer not to eat during the movie and also no cell phones during the show. thats my rule.

I think i will not like it since i always eat when i am watching a movie. it is more fun to watch a movie when your stomach is full.. it is not a distraction at all. Good thing that will never happen.

Hi Youless,
I like eating something in the cinema and I can still focus on the movie while eating. And I think it is because I am accustomed doing that.
I used to eat popcorns while watching...and it's a good feeling to be able to have that snack which most people normally do.
Though, people are really in to their preferences.
Have a nice day!
