Practice makes perfect... or better at least

A year ago, i convinced a friend to start blogging since I also did at that time and enjoyed it a lot. She started a Wordpress blog and posted once a week and since she's my friend, I followed her posts and commented and encouraged her to do more. However, I eventually got tired of reading them since i didnt find her way of writing that appealing. I still subscribed to her blog but didnt read her posts anymore. When I got a notification about her blog this morning. I got intrigued by the title so i decided to take a peek expecting to see a usual post about how her day went etc.. etc... I was so surprised that her post was completely different from how she used to write and I have to say that it was really good. It only shows that practice makes someone develop better skills and perseverance pays off.

hi there! I'm a creative writing teacher in Filipino and I must say that as time goes by, with proper motivation, practice and concentration, one's craft will surely improve. My students are mess up when it comes to writing when they were in their first year. after a year or two, they were like a pro! Practice makes someone better, really.

About this, I may say, "Thoughts by actions make activities. These activities taken up regularly create practice. Practice by more regularity develops a healthy habit. And healthy habit makes a person perfect, skilled and fortunate!! Is not it? This healthy habit in the long run brings good character. A good character in reality brings destiny, the ultimate blessings of culture!!" Thanks for this nice topic and have a good day!!

I also do blogging but sometimes I am tired to think what I am going to write. I need to relax my mind before I write a certain topic. I always follow to some of my friends blog but I need to find time to read all their write ups. There's a big difference between neophytes blogger compared to professionals but constant doing it, will make you perfect.

Not all the time you have a good mind condition. If you will write it will reflect the outcome of your writings

it is true... sometimes it seems like professional bloggers always know what to write but according to them, even they have times when they don't know what to write about.

Oh certainly! Your subject says something I think everyone of us would completely agree upon and our agreement will be based on our own experiences. I have seen in my case too that I have developed many of the skills though not to perfection but to a respectable extent by regular practicing. This also provides me motivation when I find myself not developing in some task for a period of time. I keep saying myself that practice would surely help me conquer this task and I do not need to do anything but practice.

and really gives someone great satisfaction when goals are achieved through hard work doesnt it?

That is another good point. You feel very much contended if we "earn" that thing by doing hard work. Howsoever small that feat may be but we admire our effort discarding any negative thoughts of any one else not liking it.

Practice really make perfects. When I started to join the varsity of school in swimming, my father would always tell me to just practice and train harder so that when there is a competition you can win medals. And it's really true, that practice makes perfect. I am the best of our team before, but because I didn't concentrate on my training on the last few years, my other team mates became better than me. And from here I learned a lesson that practice really makes perfect and that perseverance pays off. But im still proud that at least I have earned many medals for I have trained well on the first few years of being a swimmer.

I agree that practice does make perfect. If you want to become a better writer, then yes, you would have to practice or at any other skill you would like to develop. That is good that your friend has become better at writing in her blog. I've always wanted to do a blog, but I never seem to keep up with it and it always just falls apart later. But I'd really like to get back into blogging and maybe it could be practice for my writing and for me to become a better writer.

I do think that practice is something that does give us the ability to learn and improve our various different skills. For me, I've been doing some online writing for a little bit over a year now and though I do still feel like I have plenty of room for improvement, I've really been lucky enough to improve my skills over time. This is one of the things that gives me the motivation to continue writing.

Wow! That is good to know that you have a friend who really make good in a certain field. This only shows that everything can be learned. If we are really dedicated in attaining something, we can for as long we are doing our best. Congratulations to you and your friend.

The skills we have obtained through kept on doing it religiously. I don't believe that such skills are an innate thing to have, with an exemptions of having creativity. But then, some people cannot integrate such skills due to lack of passion.

You're right, practice does make perfect, or at least it makes "better." It's great that you helped and inspired your friend! Do you still have your own blog?

Yes I agree with you that practice makes perfect. In fact even though some of my prospective writers do not score excellent grades when they apply to work for me I still tend to give them a chance if i see possible room for improvement. However writing is a skill, and as such one needs to at least have a good grasp of the particular language first.

I agree! I used to blog too for a little over two years. What I had was a mommy blog, and I found out via feedback from family members and friends that I improved as time went on. I found it very enjoyable at first, until it came to a point that I was working more towards meeting the deadline than actually spending time with my child. It wasn't fun for me anymore. So I stopped just like that. Do hope that your friend's blog gets bigger, and that she continues to enjoy what she is doing.

I would say that a certain TYPE of practice makes perfect. If a person is doing something in the wrong way, and they continue to do it in an incorrect manner and no one teaches them any differently, or they don't know that they are doing the thing incorrectly, then I think that THAT kind of practice makes for an engrained BAD habit. Take for example if someone is taught gymnastics, but they are being taught by a really amateur coach who does not know the proper body alignment and things of that nature, that coach is not setting that athlete up for perfection. That is why a famous basketball coach named John Wooden (and others I'm sure) say that "Perfect practice makes perfect." Most of the time it is good to stick with a thing. I have heard of many stories of people starting something and then not finishing it or following through with it...I do it all the time myself :/

Indeed true myfriend. Your friend did her very best to be a successful person in that particular job. Sometimes patience is needed. In my case I love to do the same thing. I need to practice for the betterment. I tried to study new language and no matter what I do I think I'm a failure. I guess your discussion reminds me..:)So I'm telling this to myself..:) Thanks fro sharing Have a great day..^_^

Hi ddaguno, What you are saying about perserverance is so true. The more we write the better we become as writers. When I first started my blog, I wrote everything in the same tone but as I researched and explored what others were doing I came up with a whole different range of ideas. There are so many things to write, and share and if you like doing it, well it becomes very rewarding, both emotionally and financially. Enjoy your day.
