Working at Home

I would prefer working at home if it were not for my friends/co-workers who are a lot of fun. My guess is that if I work at home, I get to manage my own time and really focus on what I am doing. Working in the office is quite stressful, to be honest. You are conscious with almost everything because your superiors are around. Sometimes they pressure you and give you multiple tasks, but then you do not get much gratitude after you have fulfilled them. I sound like a whining little school girl, but it is the truth. I really feel that way. Perhaps, if I work at home, it would not be as stressful because at least you can take a quick break anytime I like, eat food while working, and play with my pets to relieve tension. Is this something that any employee can agree on?

I did experiment of having jobs. I worked in a regular job in a company, then have on line jobs at home. It is a matter of being consistent to handle the time. If I stay at home, there will be no socialization aspect of your life. The bottom line, life is like a dry season.

Have you ever experienced getting into a fight with someone at work? It feel uncomfortable working when you know someone is talking behind your back or is awfully mad at you. Part of social life is having enemies. I certainly do not like working in an environment full of backstabbers, backbiters, and simply haters. I had a bad experience with that and I had to leave the company because people around are talking about me, making fun of me, and so forth because of a mistake that I did. Gossips spread like wild fire. Ugh, it was a terrible memory. I did have great friends at work but, well, friends do come and go. The enemies? They always lurk around.

That is true. Scam folks do get a lot of money from those who easily believe that the website is secured and reliable.

Working from home definitely has benefits -- but it's also not the "cake walk" that some people will believe it will be. Those who are successful working from home are the ones that stick to a schedule, focus on their work and don't get distracted by the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning, etc. I find it depends a lot on whether you are generating your own work (example: you create a product you sell, you are a professional that offers a service, etc.) or whether you work for someone else but do the work from home. It's definitely less stressful when you wake up in the morning and don't have to commute to your job. I've had many years where my "commute" is from the coffeemaker to my desk :) However, in those years, I've also had to work through every holiday, had no "vacation" or "sick days" and have had to cancel plans because of my work schedule. Evenings and weekends don't always mean "free time" when you are self-employed. Sometimes, the success of working from home comes because you can provide availability that is not obtainable from people working the standard 9-5PM or 8-6PM positions. You do bring up a point to remember ... being self-employed is a more "lonely" option too. For people who constantly rely on being able to walk to the next office or peer over the cubicle wall for help at work (or just to socialize), cannot do that when working alone from home. There are IMs, voice chats, etc., but it's critical to ensure that time spent doing that doesn't overtake time that needs to be devoted to work. Ultimately, I would always choose working from home over working outside the home I just try to maintain a realistic perspective on what it all means

I see your point. There will be times when you encounter that you needed to socialize, ask someone for help, or share you frustrations with a co-worker who can relate to the job. I do those stuff sometimes with my friends at work. The downside is that there will also be times that you get into bad terms with someone at work and you do not feel comfortable working when he or she is around. Ugh, the horror of gossips and backstabbers. Ever experienced that? Me, too. Ultimately, I would choose working from home over working outside home.

Employers are greedy, they want more work out of their employee without paying them more, and have tons of rules that put on more stress. My husband works in a stress full environment and which everyday to be working at home and have his own business and we know it takes about a good 3 to 4 years to be getting off the grown to earn enough money to provide for all the needs, so we keep working at it.

It is terrible how some employers treat their employees. They demand a lot of things from you, give you too many tasks and assignments, and ask you to work extra hours. After you have done everything you could, they do not show much gratitude. I would appreciate it if they at least thank you and acknowledge your efforts. Maybe it is the management.

Work from home is a better option give by the clients for the person who are not able to turn up at office desk! Probably reasons might be sickness, pregnancy, personal work etc,. As far as my project is concerned, my client do not allow work from home concept as we deal with core data of customer and they maintain it with my organization. Even at the time of disaster, my clients have made arrangement by getting the work done by other corporate employees!

I guess it really depends on the type of work you have. If your clients do not allow it, perhaps they do not work well with those who work from home compared to those who work in the office where all the resources and help are present.

I pretty much agree on that. Working at home is really less pressure compared on going to your office every single day. I've been an employee for about 4years and I easily get burnt out. At the office, you have to reach stats, you have to follow orders from superiors, you have to follow schedules. But if you're working from home, there is freedom. You are your own boss. You follow the schedule that you like. You take the break you want. And not to mention, you don't have to force yourself to wake up early to be on time. So yeah. for me, working from home is a dream job.

I had to smirk with your "force yourself to wake up early to be on time" comment. I am totally guilty on that. Like, yesterday for example: It was raining cats and dogs and the roads were congested. I was late for eleven minutes, and it really ruined my mood when my superior got upset about it. LOL.

I think everyone that has a dream of being able to work from home instead of working for someone else. The biggest problem is unless you have enough money coming in, you know that something like this is not possible at this tine. But to be able to just sit at home all day and be your own boss would be nice. I know that is eventually my dream for sure.

It is a dream of mine also. It is not that I hate my employers or anything like that. I do owe them for giving me a job so I can live a life. But I totally agree with you that it would be nice to be your own boss someday, not worrying about working too hard just to keep your job or getting pressured about finishing all the tasks in very little time. It is my dream, too, to work from home. Maybe someday if I find good opportunities and earn a lot.

If we have that opportunity I'd love to work at home too. I want to be a housewife too like other women. LOL. Yes, it's realy stressful especially when they always find fault in our work. I am lucky our bosses aren't always around. We are working with very minimal supervision. We only call them when we need them. Imiss home so right now, I want to work at home like you. Happy mylotting.

It is great, is it not? We become our own bosses when we work from home and manage our own time.

hi there diannelee89, indeed working at home is very much different in working at the office. hence all of the things you have said is very much true. that after all the hardships, recognition is the least thing that being given to employees. well, if you can have good enough earnings thru working at home, then, go for it. and if you are that passionate and determined in working at home, for sure, you can reach the highest earnings that you aim to have. thus being at home does not mean, you are just sitting and resting, hence, even at home, there are a lot of earning opportunities waiting. all we have to do is to make our best in everything that we can. having the determination, passion and the faith, we can really get the success that we want.

Working from home is becoming a trend then. Or has it always been? Perhaps I am not too aware of this because I am always preoccupied with work in the office. I barely have the time to surf the internet. Moreover, I had not thought that there are great opportunities online. If you say that there are tons, then I am really starting to get excited now. I have come to a resolution to spend two hours a day surfing the internet for online jobs. It is a good thing that I have a stable job outside home. But I know that someday, I would rather stay at home and work online!

Working from home is a much better proposition now that the computer has arrived in our homes. Once all that was on offer were jobs like stuffing envelopes. Working at home can be a mix of being in and needing to go out, like home delivery jobs such as Kleeneze and Amway. This solves the loneliness problem because you meet with people and often the same ones month by month. Customers become friends. However if you work from home you do need an understanding partner who will not continually distract you, and children who are old enough to be at school. Then it is up to you how you work out the hours available.

I think work from home is good if the income is fairly good. And also, if we manage the work form home, it may not be fixed and we need to concentrate more and hardworking is mandatory. Though we can spare more time for different matters, the earning also will affect on it. Whereas, if we work for an office, the income will be fixed, we got fixed hours of work etc. is an advantage. Anyway, as long as we are trained enough to work for an office, the responsibility and stress is part of the job and once we are well dealt with situations we may be capable of doing it. Also, all works are not the same and imagine, people who all are working on the top levels are holding a lot of responsibilities and still they are managing it.

Fair enough. A fixed income is wonderful. But if you are working from home and you're exceptional with what you're doing, then why not? Whether you are in the office or working at home and there are different matters that can affect us, it will affect our performance also. The good thing about working at home is you can always go back to your computer after coping up with your stress and catching up with your other responsibilities. Working outside home, well, you cannot go back if you get fired for not hitting your targets or for performing poorly at work.

yes dianna you are right^^ would be great if we all could work at home. the only problem is that sadly its too hard to find an online job with a good income. unless you own a site like facebook is pretty hard to receive money that is like a salary^^ anyway if you work hard on a blog maybe you can. if you have original ideas or something^^ there are tons of it in the web but if you create an original one im sure many people can visit it and maybe you can earn good money^^

If you are a good web designer or a writer/editor, then you can certainly get a fat paycheck from your clients who badly need either one. All the more if you can meet their deadlines. It is never too late to learn! Everything can be studied and learned from the internet nowadays. Libraries are helpful, too.

You have a point. However, it would really depend on the type of work that you do. If you really enjoy your job and it excites you that you earn money by working at home, I think you can really commit to it.

Hi friend, welcome to mylot. Good to hear you like work at home, i agree with your points, Work from home is having a lot of benefits and lot of people are interested in doing online jobs from their home. Even some people give up their low paying offline job and concentrate in high paying online sites to increase their income. While doing online jobs, we are our own boss and do our work based on our comfort. As well as we can wear casual dress while working, there is no need to wear uniform and concentrate in our appearance, since we are doing our work from our home. We don't have any time restriction. We can do our work at any time as per our own comfort. No high qualifications are needed for online jobs as well as no age limitations are available here. Most of the home makers, retired persons, physically challenged persons are doing online jobs and make a good income from it. This kind of online jobs gives more confidence to the persons who don't have the ability to go outside for their work. There is no retirement for online job and we can do it at any age. Online job don't requires more physical activities, we can simply site as per our comfort and do our work without more strain, as well as we can get some relaxation while doing online jobs, we can listen music, take snacks and coll drinks while doing our job, also we can play game to get relaxation. Online jobs require a lot of patience and determination. It is hard to get a good income at the beginning, but we can make passive income as well as unlimited income based on our experience. Online jobs are the best way to make residual income for our life time without more strain and we can do it at any age as per our comfort. It is more lenient while comparing with tedious offline jobs.

When you are single, you tend to want to go to work outside home because you need to socialize, explore, and try new things. However, when you are married or you have obligations like children, you would wish you can work from home so you can take care of your loved ones.

Working at home is just a choice.Between working at home or working at office has plus or minus. For example if you're working at office you have not to think about company financial, salary for employee,or taxes, but you always working in the same thing everyday, and maybe makes you feel bored.Working at home makes you comfort and you have own time to manage your work. But remember, you have to make some targets and goal for your work. You just change your place for work, but the targets have to think for your future.

I can understand how you feel. Working in an office does not give us the freedom to do the things that we like because of the demands of professionalism. If you have a skill, working from home can be your choice. There are many online jobs that you can do from home.
