I need so many things for the new house

I was really organized this move more so than all the other moves and yet still things are missing. My son did through out the can opener because it wasn't working and I knew that but tonight I could not have any vegetables other than onions and sauteed mushrooms because most of the stuff we have is in cans.
My friend T gave me a stupid can opener that does not work or else we don't know how it works, neither does he and he didn't give me a box with directions.
So I couldn't open the can of peas that I wanted to.
Then I couldn't find my potato masher for my mashed potatoes and I ended up having to mash the potatoes on the plate.
I told my son I can't cook like this we got to get those things tomorrow without fail.

I've gotten most of my household things off Swagbucks through Amazon for free. I am now working on a kettle, mixer, and toaster. You should check it out, you could get them free. I've gotten a food processor, mini steam cleaner, and all my textbooks for college for free.

I like peas too. Sauteed mushrooms and onions are delicious too though. It is funny how important such mundane items can become. We get used to having them around and they are just so boring but when you can't find them or don't have them they become very instrumental. So I hope you got them.

Things like that always seem to happen when moving to a new place. Usually I eventually find them packed in some random box. As for your mashed potatoes, do you have a mixer? I use my mixer quite a lot for mashed potatoes and they come out great.

It can take a while to get a new kitchen in shape. I know this from much experience... too much, in fact.
I find that I like smashed potatoes much better than mashed potatoes. I like to add a great deal of butter and some fresh garlic and onion to them--healthy, inexpensive and tasty.

I know the feeling all to well. We just moved ourselves and I still cannot find everything. The boxes and containers I labeled are easy to read because I know what is in them. I can also tell what boxes Randy packed because it says "stuff". Of course that does not help me at all. I am hoping to finish unpacking this weekend so I can focus on my schooling. I have one assignment left to do and it only has to be one page so it should not take long. I still have not found my measuring spoons, so I may have to go out and buy some.

Oh my, sounds very familiar. Our can opener broke too and I couldn't find the colander or the potato masher after opening all the boxes. They were put in a box from the dining room which wasn't on the top of my unpacking list.
We had to go out the next day and get those items again too. Then a few weeks later we found the masher and colander. We did get a different colander than what we had before, this one is a bit smaller and lighter too.
I know what you mean by going nuts and unable to cook like that. It is hard enough remembering where you put what in which new cabinet, but to be missing items you use all the time it makes it hard to prepare any meal.
Our kitchen isn't anything like the one we had. Is your's similar or totally different. You get used to the change but it takes a while. You get used to turning one way to get something and now it is in another direction.
Hope you don't have to walk 4 miles to get them and can get a ride or take a bus.

it is totally different, less counter space. It is actually a kitchenette so you just go in to cook or wash dishes. There is a separate section for the table, and I have my freezer there. The inside of the cupboards are not deep and an average size juice container is too tall.

I have that problem too. More cabinets here than the other house because it was a school house/parsonage and not really a home. But these are not deep and the doors are narrow and from one shelf to the other is not tall at all.
The only saving grace here is the pantry. That is amazing. It is about 8 feet wide and 15 feet long. It is almost a room by itself. I have the extra food in there, all my containers, ziploc bags, paper plates and all my appliances. When I need one I go in and get it then return it when I am done. This also keeps my counter clear so it is always available.
They should make rooms larger and more standard so that it is easy to move from one place to the other and still have that feeling of knowing where things should go that you are so used to. But that isn't the case at all.
My freezer is in the laundry room and it is a tight fit. Have to move around it to get to the dryer.
Moving means making lots of sacrifices one way or another.

I like peas and vegetables very much as I am an Indian.I mostly like to eat fried potatoes with rice.My mother uses some containers to store vegetables and peas in the fridge. And uses knife to cut potatoes. So we have no problem in finding and using the stuffs in our house.

there is only two bags of clothes that have not been unpacked yet. So the can opener and potato masher never came to the new house.

I have an electric can opener. Every mechanical one I ever had either quit working or never worked. I liked mashed potatoes. I sometimes just mash them with a fork on my plate and out margarine on it.

Oh that is a mess!!! I can also not work or cook like that if I don't have all the things available. I'd rather order food or go somewhere to get cooked food :|

Hello!
Knife could be an alternative for the can opener. Though it's hard to use if you are not used to it. So, what did you have for dinner?

Oh no!! I keep a manual can opener in the drawer - just in case. I can't remember if I ever had to use it - but I know it's there. Yah, when we first moved in here, I knew where things were in the boxes, but I just couldn't get to the boxes. So I had to cook with the minimal stuff that I had on hand - it was annoying at times. Hopefully you can find the missing items so you won't have to buy extra things (you just know they're going to show up sooner or later!!)!

When we move to the new house and we just need time to make it work, it can be messy while we have to be patient to make everything in order. lol, hope you love your new house and enjoy living there, home is such a place to let us feel comfortable in.

Yes it is hard when you cannot open your cans it makes it very difficult to work in the kitchen, and when you want mashed potatoes and you can't find your potato masher.
