Not all long distance relationship ends. Constant communication is the key for this kind of relationship to be able the relationship last.

While I can agree a long distance relationship is harder to maintain, it is not "hopeless." I know this from experience. My fiance and I don't even live in the same country. He's currently living in Cyprus and I live in the USA. We met while he was here in the USA on a business trip, and we just celebrated 5 years of being "together" this past July.
It's take a lot of work and effort, but it can be done. In our case we email each other nearly everyday and we talk periodically on the phone. We also try to see each other at least every 6 months for 3 to 4 weeks at a time.
And for inquiring minds, we are engaged, but you have to go through a lengthy process to get your loved one over here and you have to have the funds to support that person for at least a year or longer because he or she will not be allowed to legally work in the USA until approved by the social security administration.
So, this is why we are still engaged and not married.

Sort of a variation on "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." The couples' minds are perfectly satisfied with the love the two imagine they have for each other, but their bodies hunger for a warm body breathing next to them in love's passionate embrace.

Hi night01watcher, i think the reason why a long distance don't last because of lack of communication, lack of trust and misunderstanding. It hard to handle a long distance relationship especially if your working and can't able to make enough time to your partner and i can cause misunderstanding too.

It's maybe because they can't stand the thing that they're away from the people they love. I know everyone of us wants someone who's always there beside us. But if you really love that person and you trust him/her, you can do anything. And don't let the distance keep you apart.

I guess the saying "Out of sight, out of mind", explains it all. They used to say, "absence makes the heart grow fonder", but now, it is "absence makes the heart forget".
