I would say me and my family we are pretty much poor we aren't poor poor and we are not in the middle class either so we are kind of in between the two classes. Me and my husband we started out dirty poor and kind of work our way up to where we are not. I'm hoping with in another year or so we will be more into the middle classes where we can live more comfortably with out having to have help from family.

I just loved the attitude you carry. i am happy that you have pulled out of trouble and have got into a respectable position now. I am sure moving forward you would succeed in taking up higher levels and earn respect. let me tell you you have already earned my respect.

hmmmm.....I really couldn't classify which group I belong. I think between poor and middle class? I don't have a real job, just an online shop. My kids all go to school courtesy of my in laws. My house is from my in laws, too. My husband does not have a job as well but just sells game fowls and racing pigeon.

I hope you get a good job some day and be at your own feet. i find some sort of despair in your words. i would say fight to make a living and you would succeed. This world is for those who are ready to sweat, not for who lie lazy in couches.

I don't lie all day in couches. I do all the work in the house everyday. I do not have a stable job but I get calls (not so often) to work on certain things online for my Australian boss. It is really hard to find a job all the more considering my age. So, I do anything possible to earn by selling online.

Depends on what aspect of life i would be asked of. :D I'd consider myself rich when it comes to family life.. and friends, etc. I'd be middle class when it comes to monetary aspect. he he

I am happy that you are seeing life in a quite positive happy. if you are rich in family life, then You are satisfied in life and I am sure you are quite happy with your life. i think the discussion is more on the monetary terms. Anyways you have time on your side and can go for a shot to be rich in monetary terms too.

I would say that we were middle class at the moment even though we are going through a bad time with money. My Dad lost his job last November and this meant that we had to stop and think about every little thing that we were spending and consider whether we really needed to do so or not. We soon realised that it was possible to stay in our house but we were not going to be able to have the same lifestyle that we had been used to in the past. It took a little time to adjust, but now we are all happy that we are in our new life again.

This is one of the reality in our society that discriminate people. Whether we accept it or not, the society classify people according to their life status. I also do not agree with this system, but this is a fact that we have to face. It's so bad to think that, instead of helping the poor-some people looked at them like dirt.. We are all human and no one wishes to belong to what this society called -lower class. (really so sad and so bad)

I would hate the attitude of classifying people socially. But in terms of monetary statistics, it would be beneficial for a nation to have such classification to give them an idea of where they stand. Social divide has cropped up many centuries before itself. We cant march into a party of rich people in plain shirt and pants. The social divide has always been there.

When I was a child I asked my mother if we were working class and she replied that we were middle class but the people next door were working class! I regarded that as rather odd even then. In spite of my mother's assurances I learned later that as my father was a lorry driver we were working class. It all depends on the job and the colour of the collar. Working class is blue collar. (Presumably wears a working shirt). Middle class is white (presumably because he works in an office and a white shirt is the usual choice) and I've no idea what colour the upper class might be! As I am English we are well versed in all types of classes, we even have a rising middle class and a falling upper class. I hate the class system which categorises people by what school they attended, what job they do, which area they live in and their accent. We are really stuck with it in England. It exists as much today as it did years ago although now most people say they are middle class. I consider myself to be working class and I am rather proud of it.

Anyone who works hard for what they have should be proud. You make accomplishments regardless of what society sees you as. I will never be Upper class and that is fine. I have never striven for that. I provide for my family, have successfully raised two children that are on their way to becoming productive human beings, and I live within my means. I may not have the finest house in town or the most expensive car, but I survive and I have the dignity of knowing I have owrked for what I have.

In terms of monetary health, i feel I stay at middle class level. To be more specific, on the medium middle class levels. its been four years since i am into the job. I have some debts, but those are manageable. i have decent but simple life style and I am indeed quite hap0py with it.

we are somewhat poor and considered to be at the low end of the middle class spectrum. we manage to survive even though we don't have a lot of extra money laying around.

My parents own a house and I live with them, there are 4 cars, a dog and a fish, and some debts from telecommunications company, me and bro go to public school but attended college afterwards, now we are working, me as online and he is a lawyer, parents retired, but still doing part time sales job. I don't consider myself an upper class but middle class more because we earn from what we can and there is no property that is given to us by our grandparents. Nevertheless, life is good so far.

That would depend on which point of view, I guess. If it were the point of view where I live, I would be considered middle class. But, if you take global standards or standards of other countries, I would be considered poor. You would be surprised how "middle class" in other countries would live like "kings" in mine.

I think you have a very valid point there. i stay in India and as far as I compare my income in that of USA, I might fall in lower class. but in India, I belong to upper middle class. The contrast in lifestyles does matter your social status too. This stark difference is visible even within the rural and urban limits within a country.

I think you spoke about all stages of human life. It only depends in which order you have gone. If you have been rich and then down to middle class, then I would if its healthy sign. but you can always do the catch up.if you were in lower class and then to middle class, then you are doing good. I hope you make riches before you even know.

I can say that I'm also in the middle. But I still need to work hard everyday to have something to eat everyday and I admit that I have almost nothing to save. Maybe I should classify myself more on the boundary between poor and middle class. That's why I need to have another job to earn something to cover other expenses. Thanks

Right now I think that I am the upper poor class/ lower middle class. I am working at a job that pays over minimum wage in my state but I have enough bills to pay and a student loan to pay back that I don't feel like I am in the middle class.

As you mentioned, from your description, i feel you belong to lower middle class. but I can tell you that doesnt mean you will always be there. you can try hard in life and you will surely climb up the ladder. I hope success would be at your feet.

Right now I am a student, so I really don't know how to classify myself. If I go by my father's household, I think I would be considered lower middle class or poor. There is what's called a "poverty line" as far as household income goes and I think my family falls just under it.

I would say there is nothing to worry. As a student you always start from level zero. Study well and get a good job, you will zoom through the levels. Its not your fault at what you are at present, but remember that your future is always in your hands.

I consider myself as poor. We don't own a house my parent's doesn't earn a living. Since I graduated from college I've been working but now I'm jobless. That's why I consider myself as poor.

I considered myself poor in terms of money. I am struggling to work at home so i can augment my family needs. But being this poor with a strong family bond makes me richer than some rich people who are not happy with what they have. I am also rich with good friends, though i can't please all people around me.

I considered myself as middle class until a couple of weeks ago. I saw a story on the news that was actually talking about classes and how they have been redefined by income levels. I now fall in the lower class instead of middle class. My income has not changed, just the view of the classes has changed.
