I am a big hand washer. Don't like handling the grandkids with dirty hands so I wash them several times a day. It turned cooler in our part of the country therefore my hands are starting to dry out which is odd. Hand cream is just not my "bag" since it makes my hands feel slimy. I use Ivory soap most of the time which is mild. Can you suggest something other than hand cream I can use regularly? Thanks in advance.

Dove is a Procter and Gamble product. They test on on animals. Please consider using another product.

hi carolbee, i like to use liquid soap for my hands but if you use bars i suggest dove. i use this on my legs because it is so moisturizing when i use other bar soaps my skin gets too dry and i cut myself when i shave my legs. this is all i could think of i used to have a nice lotion that felt like it dried into the skin yet it worked great though they dont make it anymore..
i hate that feeling of slimy hands, especially shaking someone elses!!

I have used Dove in the past when I ran out of Ivory and felt so greasy. Must be my skin texture. But I will try Dove again especially if I'm not handling food or toys for the kids. My husband uses Dove and I use Ivory bars. I have trouble working on crafts or picking up things when my hands feel slimy. Thanks for responding.

Dove is by Procter and Gamble. They test on animals. I wouldn't buy any product that is not cruelty free.

My hands irritates laundry soaps, so what I did was I now used to having a gloves when washing my clothes.
In this way, I don't usually have irritations....

I have to wash my hands so much and they dry out. So I tried a sample of Gold Bond Hand Sanitizer Moisturizer. And I liked it so much I buy it regularly. That way I don't always have to wash my hands, but I get the germs off and my hands don't dry out. It's not slimy.

Sounds very interesting. I have read in the past that sanitizers only stay on the hands for a few seconds like they really don't work that well as far as getting rid of the germs. But might try this when I'm not feeding the grandkids or handling their toys. Thanks so much for responding.

I found this really cool thing at the Dollar General...it's like a stick that you push up from the bottom....and its more like chap stick then anything. You put that on and you don't have the sticky feeling like you do from lotions...and it works! I don't know the name of it as I have to get another one. When I was in Germany my daughter liked it so much she somehow ended up with it? LOL

I also have this problem in the cooler months. I buy and use a product by Vaseline that is formulated for dry hands. Not elbows or any other part just for dry hands. A couple of drops of this worked into the skin of my hands and softness returns. No greasy feeling at all either.

As long as I use soap,my hands get dry.so what I do is wash my hands regularly whenever it is necessary, but I use a lil bit of coconut oil on my hands at least once a day.It works for me,,try it.

I wash my hands a fair bit too and used to get dry, scaly patches around my knuckles and inbetween my fingers. It can be very painful if the skin splits and it can take awhile for that to heal. Like you, I don't use a lot of moisturizer as I hate that slimy feeling. Instead, I use a combination of canola oil and lime juice on my body and Bio Oil on my face. Much better than slimy creams ;-)
