Good day people in the house... We used to have a weekly supply of tissue here in the office.I think one roll to two per week. But the management stopped the supplies and informed everyone to just buy their own tissues since it already for our personal used. We guys are not quite affected since we don't used tissue that much, I always have my hanky with me.Girls usually use tissues especially every time they go to the comfort room. Do you have the same experienced wherein privilege/freebie in work was stopped?

yes in my previous work. they used to supply a lot of coffee, creamer, milo in the office but then suddenly there were no more supplies and they said others have abused the supply and has even hoarded some of the coffee in their own containers!

We also experienced that. But supplies for office use were not given due to some deficiency in the budget but all. We buy our own pens and others.

Cost cutting in budget could be a reason. We do have free pens and other things that we need to used in our work is provided by the company.

In our company we are not given tissue papers individually. Our toilets however, does not run out of tissue papers. A housekeeping staff would come in every 2 PM to check what supplies needs replenishing. Aside from the tissue paper rolls, the paper towels and hand soap are always replenished. This way the company does not waste money. Like what you said. Not all use a lot of tissue paper so the company helps in saving the environment from using less. If one has colds, then they could go to the toilet and get some tissue paper or better yet, they bring in their own supply. In another company that I worked with, they provide orange juice and coffee to employees. We had it for maybe 2 years and it only stopped when they need to cut costs. Although a lot of people complained, I thought it was better thank laying off employees. what do you think?

Cost cutting in this way is better than laying off employees.Well employees will just follow it than getting jobless in the end.

When i was employed in the Philippines about two or three years ago, our language center stopped providing toilet papers and told us to bring our own. Students and teachers were using the toilet papers and it easily ran out and our company spent too much money on it. Some of the students just wasted it. So our boss decided to cut cost and stopped providing toilet papers. After awhile everybody got used to it and didn't complain.

We people are now used to it and no more complaints about it just like the first time it was implemented.Just tried to understand that is part of cost cutting as what they have said.

I think it is very cheap and you should get it as till now. how can they be so cheap. they are cost cutting on the expenses. anyway if they have decided it, then can't help it. I have never worked in a place where they have stopped some supply. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

I don't have that experience yet but I do know a friend wherein their freebies was there no more at their office because the management stopped the supplies. The supplies lasted quickly because most of the employees brought them to each of their houses which made the management angry. It's for the employees use inside the office it should not be brought home.

Well bringing some office supplies would be really over and abused of the privilege that the company has given to its employee.Employee should be sensitive and responsible enough of using things privilege and freebies but not to the extent that they have to bring it home.

This happened not long ago at the gym I go to, they used to supply tissue to wipe the machines down after use, or to use to mop the sweat when you had a heavy workout! Then they suddenly stopped and put a message up saying that it was helping the environment by not supplying it any more, which is another excuse for them cutting costs! I always take a towel with me so it doesn't matter so much, however when I want to use a machine and someone hasn't wiped it after them its not very nice! Or if someone has sweated and made everything wet, not very hygienic.

I always have my hanky in my pants every time I go to work so tissue is not a big deal with me ever since I work in this company.Girls are really quite affected at first since there are always using tissue every time they go to the comfort room. For now, they used to it now and buy their own tissues.

Still I am thankful that coffee is free in our office :)

It would be great that it would be free so it could be lessen in daily expenses of the employee. But some companies are thinking that it was already personal hygiene and there other way to cost cutting somehow.

That situation is very familiar. In our office, we are women so tissue is a necessity. We bring our own tissue and sometime sthe management provides because our boss also takes some from time to time when needed. We didn't talk about it, we just have the professionalism that it's your need so provide yourself.

The management thought if of it too that it is quite personal hygiene and need of the employee so we better buy it our own.But it better if it is free lol.

Hello there Ardoy. I think we have the same situation. Before, we also had our supply of tissue here in our workplace. It's just in one corner and we could get some if we want to especially when we need to go to the comfort room. Though, starting last month, I think they already stopped providing us some tissue. They didn't tell us anything about it. We just noticed that there is no roll of tissue anymore in the corner where they were putting it on before. So, it's already understood that we should already buy our own. Right now, all of us just bring our own tissue so we could really use something. I think it's just okay as long as we still have our free coffee and free drinking water. Oh no, I don't drink coffee so I'm just enjoying the free drinking water. Ah, I remember something, at least I still have my free internet. Yipee! I'm so happy to have that. At least, life is still not so boring at work. Good afternoon and happy myLotting to you. :)

Just another way of cost cutting. At least you have free coffee which we don't have here. Internet is free too since our work really need internet especially when contacting some people outside the country.Yahoo messenger is cheaper than calling them through phone.

We have our monthly supply of tissue in our office, like lots of tissue! You can even find on on the man's comfort room because our boss is very OC. That privilege isn't stop yet even if our sales lately went down. The only thing stopped is our monthly pot which is very obvious since we no longer get that much sales. Other than that, I can't think of any privileged that has stopped.

Here in our office, the only one given an allotment of toilet paper plus other toiletries is our General Manager . It is just but right that the toilet paper should already be shouldered by the employees, because that is already a personal belonging.

Yeah its employees personal hygiene that they have to shoulder. For us guys,it doesn't matter since we don't used tissue that much. But I guess having tissue for free is quite better cause it could somehow lessen to the expenses of the employee especially with those who have minimum wage.

I used to work at an office. We had the same problem. Seems one or 2 of the workers were taking new rolls home. So manager made us bring our own. In a way i cant blame him. And of course we brought in better paper after that. Ha ha ha

When it comes to toilet tissue, I definitely don't think of that as being a privilege at work because the toilet tissue is needed for hygiene reasons. In fact, I have to say that I think that it is quite absurd to decide that they are no longer going to keep toilet tissue in the bathroom. It would ultimately end up being a lot of a distraction to have to carry your toilet tissue with you every time that you are going to use the rest room. This is a very stupid cost cutting method in my opinion.

I am getting used to buying my own things at work. When I was with my previous employer, everything is provided for us. We do have drinking water supply, tissues, coffee, microwave to heat our food, mobile prepaid load cards, name it. So when I transferred to my current job, it took me sometime to adjust as they simply don't those things. We have to pay for our drinking water, we don't have tissue paper in comfort rooms, no air freshener, no coffee and all. It is a good thing there's still airconditioner am so thankful for that.

Well we do have free water here.Well girls are quite using their tissue wisely now unlike before that they just use and use and use since it was free. Now there are quite maximizing the used of their tissue since they already buying it.

Luckily, in our office, these things are commonly enough and shared by us. This management could save the time for the staff not to waste it on preparing them and also be convenient at work. When you are working in the office, these related activities must be done along the working. So I think our employer need to prepare them for the staff to make more efficient job. If the cost of these things are very great, the management system have to be improved accordingly. The management of these freebie could be the representative of the company culture as well. If the freebie at work is stopped, maybe I will need a period of time to adjust.

They been to adjustment stage before and thinking why do they have to stopped this freebie that was implemented ever since the company was started. It was management decision and way of cost cutting in a way so we better obey.

i once worked in an office where toilet tissues are supplied if you just request it. i myself use toilet tissues for personal hygiene. i would request 2 rolls of it everyweek from the supplies room. but there would be times when its out of stock. that would be the time that i would buy one for myself. but if the office decided to eliminate toilet tissue from the supply list, that would be fine with me.

It is really a personal stuff so I think employees should really but it for their selves but free is quite better lol.Less to their expenses.Since girls are the one use tissue most of the time, well another expenses for them. For us boys, no problem at all.

What? That's terrible, I mean tissues are also used to dust the PCs and our desks, it's not just for us girls' personal "thing". When I was still working, I buy my own tissue for my personal use because the one being supplied to us is too scratchy and coarse you can't even use it to wipe the sweat on your forehead without fear of drawing blood (of course I'm exaggerating, but you get the picture).

Quite terrible for the girls but it was management's decision so we have to oblige and obey.I usually used rag in cleaning my table and PC. I always have hanky in my pants in case I am sweating so problem with me.
