A week ago, because I am still in a vacation from class and got nothing important to do at home, I spend most of my time surfing the net. And just few days ago, I joined here. And on an average day, I spend about more or less seven hours a day surfing the net.
And lately, I notice that after few hours of surfing the net, my eyes got hurt. What can you suggest so that I could prevent my eyes to get hurt.

Take a break. Do not stare at the screen for hours at a time. Get out and walk around, try blinking your eyes , open your eyelids and look up, down, sideways, etc. Do something else. From what I read it is best to only be on the computer for 30 minutes to an hour. Cataracts run in my family, so am trying to prevent it - 1000 g of vitamin c, 2000 of vitamin D, plus multi vitamins.
When I wake up in the morning, my eyes are very blurry so have to try to get them to work.

I found that I was starting to get cataracts back in 2007 and the doctor told me because I was on the borderline of diabetes because it runs in my family, that I would have a higher risk. But at the time the doctor was more interested in giving prescriptions so I had to go online to find more natural ways and was interested in reversing it. So far I have remained the same except i have lost weight and have not developed diabetes. Here we have long waiting lists and I remember my grandmother almost going blind beforevtheyvreovedher cater acts.

This is very good advice. I had to go to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago for an eye infection. He told me to use warm wet compresses to my eyes when I first get up. And to use a small amount of baby shampoo on the compress to gently cleanse the lids. I will have to do this forever.
He also told me that I have beginning cataracts that were not to be worried about right now. But I'm worrying anyway. I've increased the C, D and B along with the regular daily MV. I'll be researching to see if there is anything else I can do to lower the growth rate.

I spend a lot of time on the computer, sometimes hours at a time, the trick is to give yourself regular breaks, even if it's just to go to the toilet or go for a bite to eat, time enough to give your eyes a break, staring at a screen all day makes them dry, tired and itchy. I know I spend too much time on the computer, I need glasses for when I use the computer not for anything else!

You should give some break in between to your eyes. Also, stand up from the seat, walk a little and come back. If possible, do some stretching and also wash your eyes in between. If problem still persists, it is better to show to an Eye specialist, who might recommend some medicine, or some eye exercises.

The best prevention would be to not open your computer. I get headaches and my eyes hurt when I spent too much on the computer as well. But that was before my mom bought me an eyeglass especially designed for the computer. Now I don't often have those anymore. If you don't want to buy one, you could lower the brightness of the screen or look elsewhere every few minutes and exercise the eyes.

I too have eye problems. I had laser done to cover up holes in my retina. But I need to sit in front of computer for my studies, job and recreation. I consulted an eye specialist and he advised me not to sit in front of the computer for more than three hours continuously. After every 2 hours, get up for 10 minutes and wash your eyes thoroughly.

I had my eyes checked a few months ago because I too am worried with my eyes as I have been working in front of the computer for years and it gets hurt with too long use of computers. There are a lot of free eye check ups these days, I would suggest you go to one and see what is wrong with your eyes, if they say you have to buy glasses, you will always have the decision to say no. And then go to another ophthalmologist, if they say the same thing, then I guess it's about time you have glasses.

I suggest that you limit your hours in surfing the net.. If you do 7 hours daily, why not try and make it hours only.. and take breaks every 2 hours..
Also ,have enough rest, your eyes must be very tired, especially if it is facing the computer nn stop and if you are too close to the computer.

I think you should give your eyes a break from time to time. Continuous viewing either in TV or computer will strain our eyes, aside from the radiation their monitor emits. You could also use protective eyeglasses or install monitor shields most appliance store recommends.

I am online for more than 10 hours a day and the only way that can help me prevent from those tiring eyes is to get away in from of my laptop from time to time. You could be really straining your eyes if you are in front of the monitor or screen for 7 hours straight without having a break. Also, after you use your laptop, refrain from washing tired eyes.

My first suggestion would be to to your optometrist..if it persist.
May you need a screen for your monitor...maybe you just need a pair
of reading glasses...or maybe you should not spend so much time on
thr computer withour msny breaks...
Good luck to you....

Hi allenwrites, i think the best thing you can do is to visit the optometrist so that you can find out what the real reason why your eyes got hurt. The optometrist also can answer all your inquires regarding to your eyes and can give you advice if you need to wear eye glass or not.

Well I also went through these days as your and now I have my glasses on. But now I am also equipped with better suggestion to counter such problem.
Just follow these steps and keep care of your body.
1. Keep your eyes off of the PC screen ever half hour and look for something far object and not any bright object like your room lighting.
2. Every one hour wash your eyes with cold water and see side ways and up and down your eyes without moving your head. I mean do some eye exercise.
3. Go out for walk every one hour feel fresh and sit back again after 15 minutes of rest. That don't mean you go out watch TV in other room or play with your mobile phone. I say go out and have chat personally (no cell phones.
4. Lastly don't use PC that much use software so that you can get control of it or you will get addicted to it like rest of people too who use FB stuff like that.

The best way is to rest your eyes from time to time. Keep it away from radiation and light for a time and then come back when you feel you have rested enough. Having your eyes exposed to radiation and light for several hours straight will definitely cause damage to it.

I think you don't have to stick more than few years in your pc without having a rest. After few a hours using your pc you have to relax and do something else.
Take some vitamins for the eyes or even put some screen protector into your monitor to prevented your eyes from getting expose to radiation of the monitor.
Happy mylotting!
