I am interested to do the data entry, but they said have to pass a test first, which makes me unconfident. If any of you have experience with odesk, how do you find about it? Have you receive any payment from them?

Helolo wongchoiyee,
I am myself a member of oDesk and now have several freelance jobs on there based on working when the employer needs it. This mean I have alot of returning customers, because they know my quality of work. But it takes time to build a portfolio of returning customers, so patience is needed.
I have received several payments from oDesk, also on different paymentprocessors, They are certainly genuine, but keep in mind the client pays oDesk and oDesk pays you for the job. But if the client does not pay oDesk, then oDesk cannot pay you. This means it is not oDesks fault if the client doesnt pay for your work. In my two 2years on oDesk I have only tried that once. Client not paying.

Indeed that single client was wasting time, but now I have alot of good paying clients - so I am happy :)
But of course it also depends on what sort of work you can offer - since some jobs are better paying that others.

If you want to get a legit job and if you want to earn more online you have to learn some skills or improve your skills before applying to any job. It's really not that hard to get a job in Odesk. But you really have to be prepared. Not only that you will get an online test, you will also be interviewed by the employers which I think is tougher than the online test. LOL! Really, it's not hard to get a job there. It's just that you have to beat the low bids.

Well same here. I actually had an invite from an odesk client. The salary is $5 per hour, but he turned down the application because I was not that confident during the interview. My tongue got twisted. LOL!

I have an account there but I never updated my profile yet. I didn't know you will be taking a test there so I really can't tell how good they are. I have been referred to this site by friends and they say they were paid good there if you could just find a good job. Well might be trying it if I get the chance.

I heard of odesk a year ago and got interested. I saw their website but I didn't register because of the jobs they offer. it really requires users to become active and have an extensive experience to do the job right and successful. If you really wanted to do it then go, Odesk pays good for every job you have done.

I found about odesk few months ago. I tried to work there. But no matter what I do, I was always rejected every time I apply jobs for there. And I don't have the luxury of time back then to take many tests. So I quit there.
I have a friend who worked there and manage to make good amount of money. But she quit few months ago. She said to me that it is not worth her time and her efforts there is undervalued. She just went back to teaching english to Koreans
