Good day Fellow Mylotters,
Well, just a quick one, as I just observed, often times when we are eating those finger foods like peanuts and the like, our time to do our work was disturbed and being divided. As a result, our job takes longer since our time was divided to what we need to do plus taking a bit of those finger food that we eat. I think this attitude is usual to anybody. That, anyone who does eating a finger food such as peanut cannot find concentration on what he/she does. Since he/she divides the time into two activity, working and at the same time eating.

I agree with your discussion..Thanks a lot for sharing this..This is so true when we are doing our job and we eat at the same time, our job takes longer to finish because our concentration on our job were stolen.stolen by that food. That's why I don't eat while I'm working,I don't eat while I'm writing because I could loose the topic of what I'm writing of.So we should don't eat while we work.

hi,
yes its true that job takes longer when we eat something that is why here in my work, when we all done our task at 6 in the evening that is the time we eat so that we don't need to hurry our food to eat and we don't need to think and focus to our work because its already done.one time to eat and one time to work.

In my case, if I am stress at work, I am taking finger food to eat. It helps me to reduce stress a little bit. Well, some people can concentrate of what they're doing even though they're eating but for me, well, I can't concentrate. Its difficult to focus on work while eating. I only eat when I am stress. Hmmm... maybe if we're studying, we can take those finger food. I think that would be fine so as not to fall asleep while studying and to help our brain become active while studying

Yes of course, sometimes it takes a longer hour to eat some thing than going back to our task or job again. I think for some companies they do not allow their employees to eat during working hours because of the delay. They assigned specific time for meal and snack break so that their employees could work well.

Yeah, I do agree with you. When try to eat something when we are doing the job, it will take more time to finish it off. I have experienced it many times before. As I am working in an IT company when I am taking some food item fore example the peanut itself as you said, my hands will be busy in taking the peanuts from the cover and definitely it will take more time to finish the job assigned to me.

Hi airasheila, i agreed to that, at one time in a lecture there is a research on concentration, it was found out that those who are fasting or having empty stomach get to do their work well and concentrate better. I guess we cannot focus on two things at one time that makes our work takes longer time.

It is not true what you say, there are plenty of people great in multi tasking esp. women. That is what they do day and night. Although it's not said they really taste what they eat. BTW the job will go faster too if you have enough energy, sleep, no stress, deadline, are not drinking, going to the toilet, think about other things (have an empty mind) etc etc.

I believe that it only applies to work related to time..
when working i think anyone is allowed to nibble on food, snacks
and still get their job accomplished...I did, and I never got
an negative review when I was working..I just don't know of
a job that that time was of such demand that you can't even
nibble on something..I mean unless they are a doctor or something..
I think as long as your work is done, thats what we get paid
for...
Lord knows we don't want to give employers any ideas to make
such demands like that on its employees..Some of them are
demanding enough already...

Hi! Good observation you have right there. It's so true that work takes longer than usual when you're eating. It's mainly because you loose some of your focus onto tasting the food you eat. Also one obvious reason is that your hands are busy with food rather that your work. But I don't see anything wrong eating while working unless you really cannot finish your work because of eating. :)

It is but natural things we all knew it hardly impossible to do two things at a time. And coming to sitting on the computer when you are typing and want to have your food, surely it won't be possibly specially when you are eating by hand. OK if you are eating something like potato fried or other stuff which you can have it with spoke then it will be work fine.

OMG! that's right! when we are eating, then our concentration just gets splitted. But the thing is that, I just love eating while I am doing something serious. I know it'll delay the work, but then, everytime I think of eating something when I have important work, then, I will think that I should concentrate more on my work than eating.
But then, by the time I finish eating, I would've completely forgotten about the work and would be eating.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, we generally have this habit to continue our work even during our lunch breaks or tea breaks and due to this we often take food and at the same time work also. I have also observed that when we are doing such things then our work gets stretched and elongated and that too for obvious reasons as we are doing multitasking. i would recommend rather complete our food and then start the work as soon as possible.
What say?
