Why after you have been up way too long is it a problem to get to bed. I just want to close my eyes and sleep but I cannot. I can't because my body is running on pure adrenaline and coffee from this morning and afternoon. As well as, the pasta I gobbled up yesterday knowing what long of a day I would have today. My baby was up all day too. Cranky! But awake, finally about an hour ago she decided to sleep when I laid down and pretended too. But I still can't. I drank water to flush out the coffee. Ate something he's hand keeping warm to get sleepy but nohing is happening. I thought I would just write a question to y'all about your experiences in here but it is turning into a rant. An adrenaline and coffe fueled rant! Not a good combo, I may be writing for days. Hope I crash soon as when I drink coffee later in the day I don't sleep until the next day. Anyone have this experience or similar? What helped!? What tricks can I do for my zzzz's to come :( thanks ! Happy mylotting :)

I guess you are still adjusting to feel sleepy in times of exhaustion of the day. Take the time of reading or watching TV, it will help you out. Good day!

I write and read and watch a movie. It wasn't helping. I was exhausted. I finally got some hours sleep like 48 hours since the last time. We slept for 5 hours and were awake again. I was hoping to catch up on sleep but didn't sleep again until I took a short nap half a day later. I am still exhausted and hope to get feeling rested completely. Thank you for sharing.

Sometimes it happens to me as well. It's probably because you had an intense day and you need time to relax and feel sleepy. I am using a techique that I learned in yoga, I go to the bed and relax in a position where I feel comfortable. Then I focus on my body and starting from my feet I try to relax every muscle starting from my feet until my head. Also, I keep my breathing low and steady and take everythinng off my mind. It helps me but if I feel intense because of caffeine it takes more time to go to sleep. Get some rest and don't let the stress keep you up because a good night sleep can't be replaced with anything!

i'd advise you not to depend on caffeine. you could start a dependency circle and end up insomniac.

I think I might depend on caffeine to wake up in the morning! I enjoy coffee and I start my day with more energy. But after my first coffee, I avoid having another one later in the day, unless I have to work until late and I feel sleepy. It is true that having too many coffees can mess up our biological circle and our sleeping hours!

That was a big mistake to drink again. But I would've fallen asleep before getting home. I really needed it. It was in my system and couldn't sleep. :(

I get that way here sometimes. After working 15 hours in a day, I cant keep my eyes open. I go to bed, and cant sleep for 2-3 more hours. Not sure why that happens. have a great day there.

It is frustrating isn't it!? I really try to focus on sleeping. It is so hard when you need to get up and do another 16 hour day. Hope you figure out what works with you too.

take your mind off your laptop and anything technology related. do something new, like listen to people talk on the radio; don't watch the tv please. or do some cleaning work. i have made it a duty to take myself off my laptop at least six hours everyday, no matter how pressing or urgent i feel i should be on the laptop.

I stood on the laptop to write and read to go to bed and be tired. I stood off and I cleaned the house, drank milk, warm bath, EVERYTHING! Nothing helped so in the morning I did light therapy. It finally worked I guess because we had a bit of restful sleep later that morning. Thank you.

This is my suggest, before you go to sleep, drink a glass of milk with green tea. I hope it can make you sleep well

I thought green tea had caffeine. Which are you talking about? I had coffee which has caffeine. That is why my mind is awake and my body exhausted.

Well i am writing here cos even last night i faced the same problem. i couldnot sleep whole night last day . it is not nice. :( but there was a buddhist religious festival from the night to morning so i went to see it. then i came back and slept again in the morning having my break first. If i talking about your matter. better read a book whenever you go to the bed.it will make you sleepy for sure. But make sure not to read a book that you are interested to read. cos then what happened is you get addicted to that book and you will not want to sleep while you reading it. so always choose to read a boring book to read. :) have a good sleep next time. Bravo :)

You were lucky. There is always something going on at night here in the city. I unfortunately don't know of many with children in mind. There are 24 hour daycares too but I don't really think they would be awake. So we have to have our own little fun until we are tired and sleep. Since she is sorta on the same schedule as me. She sleeps a lot more.

I used to experience that a lot. I would lay in bed trying so hard to sleep and it just wouldn't happen. Now I either sit in my recliner and use my laptop and I fall asleep or I have put a CD player in my bedroom with relaxation music on it, put it on repeat, close my eyes and concentrate on nothing but the music and before I know it, I'm asleep. Funny, I never thought about doing it until I was adding apps on my phone and there was one called relax and sleep and it really worked.

When you have so many things in mind, that's one reason why you cannot sleep or your mind won't let you sleep thu your body want some rest. Peace of mind is the best factor for a good sleep.

Your nerves get strained too much and you get overly excited-your body finds it hard to adapt to abrupt changes like falling asleep after an exhaustive day. Staying awake for too long you somehow program your organism to stay awake with you and despite your desire to take a nap the body sends signals it's not ready to do it. It's not recommended to drink coffee or coke shortly before going to bed because they cause additional excitement and nervousness. A cup of hot milk with a spoonful of honey can help you calm down and relax.

I heard the same with exercise. That it will wake you up. But this is really hard as I usually fall asleep after exercising. I don't want to wake myself up so I don't stretch or exercise. I heard food induces sleep so I tried that. I hate drinking coffee but it was the only thing that woke my eyes up during the day.

I know this feeling and it is very frustrating. I have been up late a lot and when I have felt so exhausted I just could not fall asleep. It was really awful to go through that. Perhaps you could try drinking some type of tea that helps with relaxing, start reading a book you don't like, try not to think about anything at all and try not to move at all.

Your body and mind are just used to being wide awake and drinking coffee helps them to stay awake even your exhausted. Little tricks you say? Try these before going to bed, do a light exercise and drink a glass of warm milk. Good day

I always experiencing that.lol. I'm going home very late every night. And before I go to bed I watch first then after I get tired that's the time to take the opportunity to sleep and get a rest but then it doesn't do anything. I just laid down but my sense is still awake. That is also always my problem.

We have all been there , you're absolutely tired but you can't sleep. It could be adrenalin or coffee, but I figure its a state of mind. If you're tired but your mind is busy thinking of something worrying or planning something else you may have trouble sleeping.Try and clear your mind, stop thinking what you're going to type on mylot and close your eyes, and I'm sure you'll sleep.
