Hi SR Well, even I am one of those who used to say that climbing stairs can give good exercise. And this is the thing I used to follow regularly. In city I am having rent apartment, on the third floor. Lift is available but so far I never used lift... its not about fear, but I have make my mind of using stairs from starting. Whenever I go I use stairs. Well there are exception in this too.. ha ha.. I mean if some day I have to go on 10th floor, I surely use lift for that.

Anand, You are getting a good exercise without spending any spare time. In fact, many are not aware about this kind of things in their life. For small distance travel they depend rickshaw but if we decide to walk that distance we can save money, more than that, we are giving some exercise to our body. If we care and can change small small habits in our life it will benefited for our health.

Of course I will feel so tired to climb the stairs. I use the lift at home and in the office. So I don't get used to climb the stairs although I know it is much more environmental and it is also a healthy exercise. However, I am just lazy. I don't like this kind of exercise.

I only go upstairs to sleep and when I go down in the morning I would not go up again until night when I want to sleep. Since my first floor house doesn't have heavy traffic I only clean there once a week. Yes it is too tiring going up and down the staircase.

i usually take the stairs if the building has them. I get out of breath because i do not take them enough!I suppose if I took them more then I would get accustomed to them and would not get so out of breath. But right now I cannot even remember the last time I was in a building that had stairs!

Yes because I'm not used to doing it. I usually take elevators or escalators even if it's just the second floor so when I climb the stairs I get tired easily. It's not a good sign it means I'm not physically fit. Lately I've been thinking of starting a regular workout but definitely not with the stairs first because it's very tiring :)

Hi dear, I am not caring if there is stairs, as climbing stairs is part of my life. I live in second floor so I have to climb stairs minimum two times in a day. Neither I think, it is an exercise nor did I feel it is difficult. It is a daily routine and I used with it. At present my office is in ground floor, earlier my office was in second floor and my house was in 3rd floor.

Stair climbing is good exercise. You should have a general check-up by your primary care physician. Be sure to tell him/her about the affect stair climbing has on you. If you are given a clean bill of health, start to exercise slowly and build up your strength.

hi surekharathi! yes, anybody will feel tired climbing the stairs (a matter of how many stairs), if otherwise, they were robots! i like climbing the stairs because it's a good exercise. and it's good especially for those who seldom has the time to go for other exercises. in fact, i had been to the great wall of china with my wife and both of us managed to reached the top of it (climbing the stairs), entering from the popular juyong pass entry. and for your information, i am currently working at the ground floor of my company. but there were some restructuring of the organizational chart and i am expected to be transferred to the third floor soon.

I feel so tired when climbing the stairs. I only do it when I am already late from work because our office elevator is so slow that I am forced to climb the stairs up to the 7th floor. My knees are already shaking when I reach the 3rd floor. Our boss used to tell us that we should use the stairs sometimes for exercise and so I do it when I feel like doing so or when forced to do so. But most of the time, I have to wait for the very slow elevator because I'm so lazy to climb the stairs

When I was staying at my previous condominium at the third floor, I was using the life all of the while. ha! ha! I was not so patient to climb the staircase especially when I was carrying a lot of groceries or when I was moving a heavy object. In fact, climbing the staircase will be good for our health. But due to my laziness, staircase is only for emergency purposes. I do feel bad to those who stay at the upper floors without any lift services. If you are staying at a place without any lift services, then climbing staircase will be your only choice and treat it as an exercise in your daily life.

I don't get tired climbing the stairs , surekha. But before, i sued to have a pain in my knee, whenever i go up one or two stairs. That's because i weigh more than what my knee can take. However, i do get tired , walking from the entrance of the mall where our office is, until to the back of the long stretch of the mall, where our employees entrance is.

I enjoy climbing stairs and I climb them often for exercise. I would climb more stairs if we had more available to climb. Sometimes I will go to the football field and climb up and down the bleachers because it is good for the heart. I get tired of climbing the stairs, my heart races, only because I am pushing myself to the next level. This is very good exercise for the heart. The more you climb the stairs, the less tired you will feel. It takes work, but as you said, it is good exercise. Your heart, lungs and legs will get stronger too.

Well, that depends on how old are you. If you are like a 25 year old, young and fit and you are finding it hard to climb stairs, then you have a problem. One of this could be obesity and another could be that you are just too physically weak. I don't think reaching the second floor should make you feel so tired.

I don't feel tired climbing my house stairs but it gets tired if climbing office stairs, shopping mall, and shops. Maybe its due to stress that you are feeling tired. In my high school I study at the 3rd which is the highest floor, I always out of breath climbing to the 3rd floor, my friends don't feel so, maybe I am weak.

If you can't take a flight of steps to the second floor without having that sort of reaction, you are seriously out of shape. I usually take the steps rather than the elevator, and I have been trying to get more walks in. However, my walking companion (my neighbor's dog) wasn't up to a walk when I stopped by yesterday; his paw had been bothering him. I need to get my boyfriend into going for more walks with me; we have enough places around to walk, but he has been avoiding going out for a walk with me. *Sigh*

Every day i am in need to use the stairs, as our apartment don't have life. Surely this kind of using stairs will give leg pains, but we are in need to use them based on our needs

It's good climbing up the stairs but I'd rather do it while I'm with a friend so that we could have some nice chats to divert ourselves from those tiresome flight up the stairs. I never got tired climbing stairs before but now, I can never seem to bring myself up to the third floor anymore. Maybe I'm just really getting old.

I live on the second floor and am used to climbing stairs so I do not feel too tired climbing. In fact I find it a good exercise of climbing up and down the stairs everyday.
