Osteoporosis occurs when bones lose minerals such as calcium more quickly that the body can replace them. They become less dense, lose strength, and break more easily. Calcium, exercise and Vitamin D can help prevent osteoporosis, medical treatment and lifestyle changes can prevent further bone loss.

There is always health talk about osteoporosis during the weekend. You are right about the exercises, lifestyle, calcium supplements and vitamin D. It's very important to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Therefore, we should always keep fit, proper diet and with right attitude.

As we grow older, the essential elements in our bone will breakdown. Osteoporosis is more prone to women, after menopausal period. The estrogen hormone can not function well to maintain healthy bones. Even in research, they claim that taking calcium supplements will not be that effective.

We must start to take care of our bones before osteoporosis set in at old age. You are absolutely right, exercises, calcium intake and vitamin D (or expose to morning sun) will helps a lot. Recently my father and my mother got a fall. My father is still in the hospital. Due to osteoporosis, and he is 92 years old...he has a broken hip.
