Have you gotten books for a Christmas present?
My Mom gave me two remarkable works of this awesome writer - "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "A Farewell to Arms." It's not JUST good literature. Hemingway wrote those books based on his experiences in Spain, back in the thirties. So, historically, these a very important fictional books, as they are based on real journalist experiences of Hemingway. Mind you, he was sent to Spain as a reporter from the "Toronto Star."
I highly recommend these tow. Amazing gift from my Mom - books that I'll keep in my personal library forever.

I got one book from my ex. It was something my daughter wanted to read, so she "borrowed" it from me.

I think I give the best book gifts to myself as I know which books I really want to read. But I always keep the books that are gifted to me, mostly for sentimental value, it also tells you more about the giver than about the receiver, and some I also really enjoyed or found interesting.
I also really want to read more of Hemingway's nonfiction works, especially Dateline about his work with the newspaper. I have only read A Moveable Feast.

Its a special treat to recieve books like that for Christmas. I read "the old man and the sea" many decades ago. Some of his novels were turned into films that have also become classics. Now it is easy to learn more about this awesome writer online. I hope you enjoy your Christmas present.

I love to read, but have not read "A Farewell to Arms" yet. Will add it to my reading list which is quite long.

Oh I love when people give me book as gift, it's always priceless no matter what book they gave me. Anyway, I love those books and I love Hemigway, in matter of fact I used one of Hemigway's book 'the sun also rises' as my project on my bachelor degree long ago. Sometimes I felt like I was obsessed with him lol...thats how much I love his book I guess. I can't wait to go to New York Library, they has special aisle for Hemigway collection...ooh I will feel like in heaven. Can't wait.

Hi, ivan....I give myself books all of the time. I have read the Hemingway books but it's been some time since. My library is immense and I read some books again at least once a year. I love the classics and if I don't have one, I go to the library for it. I'd rather read a good book than watch television.
Hope you are having a nice Christmas.

Throughout the years until now, I've never received any books as a Christmas present. If I received a book is also not bad because I also like reading. But, what I received for this Christmas is just a bag contain a bible and a stress ball. This year I also didn't received any Christmas presents. If you like such books, then it will be good for you. I don't read literature, but I read adventures story book, like Enid Blyton.
