Do you feel excitement with an argumentative discussion?

I do agree that some topics are so striking to read, taking time reading the context; some are not related to the main idea. Some discussions are set into fire, can we refrain from leading to this?

I personally don't like fighting or arguing. I hate drama and I hate confrontations so for me I try to stay away from discussions in politics or religion just because I don't like to debate. Everyone has a right to their opinion so I will not argue with anyone for them to change their mind about something. They have their opinion, I have mine.

I am in the same thinking, I don't like stress for having dramas and proving over the top in the discussion itself. Have a great day!

Personally, I don't like argumentative discussions and tend to stay away from them if they are someone else's if they are mine I will accept they have a different opinion from myself but I would never argue or bully them into my way of thinking. I guess it depends on the subject matter, some subjects are taboo even on Mylot and will evoke arguments and major disagreements.

As long as there are people in this world there will always be arguments. But here on MyLot, we can avoid those. Simply don't bother replying to those discussions. And if it did not start off that way and you see it going there, just leave the discussion.

Shavkat I enjoy debates especially with those with whom I disagree, as long as everyone is respectful. If the discussion becomes name calling and nastiness, then all lose. I find I can learn the most from those who disagree with me and as long as it stays respectful, I enjoy it no matter whether they agree with my POV or not.. Years ago I used to use nasty discussions to practice patience and practice not becoming emotional..lol I did well since today it takes a lot for me to lose my cool...even if occasionally I find some positions annoying...mostly I can just smile and think how I used to be.....

Some of the passionate discussions can be enjoyable to read as long as the participants don't get too wordy. I believe some of those discussions are meant to be that way.

Yes. We can refrain from leading this into fire. It is really striking expecially if it is argumentative discussion, but we should use first our mind. After that, learn to respect each other opinions and respect each other beliefs. We have to remember that we're all different. It is all in the mind. We can control it in our mind so that we can refrain this from doing it.

Yeah! I know what you mean. I would be sometimes be excited to be part of a certain discussion, only to find out that the whole story is not related to the topic posted. I get disappointed. But after reading the first couple of lines, I look for another topic that would seem interesting.

There are some topics that I want to give my honest opinion, but I stop myself from doing it because if I do, it would start a war between users and I could upset some people. Especially in the religion section. I get angry very easily when I feel I am right. I don't like to fight, but I do like to fight for what I believe in.

Well, in my case I'm usually reading, and consequently comment threads written by my friends (one of them are you!). I find it in their speeches, usually interesting topics, ideas and maybe you can share advice to give and receive. Sometimes maybe I move even in the section "my interest" and see if I find an interesting topic to read. But I believe that advanced users Mylotters, almost all are able to write quality discussions.

Not usually unless it really hits a nerve then that would be the human side of me not listening to the things I have been taught over the years. I do try to comment when I can in the kindess way I can though, but sometime that ugly beast just jumps out.

I don't enjoy discussions that end up with name calling. In my world, that's childish. However, I find friendly debates about different topics to be helpful to me. When I have to support my beliefs, it requires me to completely understand my beliefs. In some cases, it has caused me to do some minor research. These debates have helped me to firm up my opinions, think more logically, and have also at times helped me see things I had never previously considered. As long as the debates remain about ideas, and do not devolve into personal attacks, I will often get involved.

Yes, but I only feel excited when I have an argumentation or debate with others, and the most important is that i win in these issues.

Yes. I feel excitement sometimes. You know what, you cannot control yourself if someone wants your head to be set on fire. They don't think others' feelings or should I say, they don't consider the feelings of others. Sometimes you have to fight what's best for the goodness of our minds :)
