As early as last night, my brother in-law and my husband has already gathered 12 round fruit for the New Year. He even have another round fruit added today to make it 13! I jokingly told him the belief is just 12 fruits for good luck for the whole 12 months of the new year. But he said he wanted to make it that, so he can be very sure of good luck for the whole year. I personally don't believe in it, but it's their belief so let them be.

My wife did it yesterday morning. While I am sleeping the whole day. My wife and my sister roaming around in the fruit stand to find different kinds of circle fruits. My wife always did it every year. When I was abroad, we spend the new year with a couple of KFC orders.

My mom never fails to do that. She always buy round fruits for the New Year but I forgot whether it's or what. I'm not sure. She also hangs some fruits on the door for good luck. I just let her do that, there's no harm in believing for something, right? As long as it makes us happy.

Yeah, as long as it makes your mom happy and positive because of that, then there's no harm in following such tradition.

That's a wonderful thing to do and it's the first time I heard about something like this.would you havea list of round fruits? I can not imagine 12 of them round but I'll give it my best try: apple, orange, melon, watermelon, cantaloupe, pomegranate, what else? I'm really tring here. Only fruits or vegetables also?

Longans, ponkans, cantaloupe, lemon, grapes, guava and pear. Sometimes, a pineapple can complete the 12.

My mother already collected 12 fruits since last night. I do not believe in good luck but this became part of our tradition. It is like we are used to buying different kinds off fruits for the new year. Well I think it is not luck but positivity can help our future. If my mother feel so lucky about her fruits, I guess that positive perspective for the new year is good.

My mother usually gathers 12 fruits during New Year. It is kind of superstitions. I don't believe in superstitions and I pray hard to God for good health and good things this coming new year. However, I just respect my mom in believing that superstition. Happy New Year!

Yes, we just have to respect their beliefs. And just like you, i only believe that with hard work and fervent prayer, success is not not far.

Hmm. I have never heard of that kind of belief. I though that 13 fruits would be some bad luck or something as 13 is a unlucky number(?). Seems to me that your family love round fruits and many many many of them

Actually i don't believe in that too. It's my in-laws and husband who does that. I guess, they grow up with that belief so until now they practice that. But in my family's side, we don't believe in that. I think it's because my father is a lawyer, who always would ask for a reason in doing a thing.
