So, it is raining.
Oh, I know, so what, but we've been seriously NOT getting rain lately so this is news.
Still, that's not what I am going to talk about - much anyway.
See, Texas and rain often mean thunderstorms and we had some thunder today.
Nice huh?
Well, Maggiepie was listening to the radio and there was this GIANT clap of thunder and THEN the radio interrupted with the emergency broadcast sound.
???
I was sitting in the next room, next to a radio myself and I turned it on, only to hear "this is a test of the Emergency Broadcasting System".
I mean, this is good - not an actual emergency, but you KNOW they couldn't have actually TIMED that to break in right after a big clap of thunder!
You ever have something timed quite that well?

No, I've not had that kinda timing with things, not within recent memory. I've had that Test of the Emergency Broadcast System cut into many of my TV programs. That's enough to drive me bats.
Texas is one of those states in need of a good long drink of water. It is good you are getting rain. It may well get your vegetation growing again and help all the starving horses.

Yes, Texas has had its challenges.
All householders need to have high weeds removed from around the house, in order to protect yourself against wildfires. If you can't do it yourself you should hire someone. The state will hold 'controlled burns' which burn down the worst of the offending underbrush.

Yeah, the rain is a good thing, but it seems most of it is raining east of town and we need that rain more west where it fills our lakes! Still, we'll take it.
There was a fire on a highway medium near my job the other day, just so dry!
Now, we have to hope that it doesn't stop raining again, because that was part of why we had so many fires a couple of years ago, we had a pretty damp winter and then no rain to speak of and the tall grasses dried out and made a bad fire hazard!

Personally to have Thunder like this and then have the warnings go off, and it only be a Test would be a little scary, and personally could not be better planned even if someone tried to do it this way. Glad that it was only a Test and everything turned out OK.

Very well timed, that would make my heart drop as well. Glad you guys got some rain. We had a really dry summer here in Ohio, we've had a couple snows, and that, mixed with the last couple days rain, is finally putting some moisture back in the ground and giving us some very green grass. Now I wish we could fast forward to Spring without all this mud, or get cold again. With the temp changes, I hate the mud and mess we end up with.

I've had some unusual timing things. Of course, they quite often involve the cats in some way. Oh, so many cat tales...
It's good that you got some rain there. While my boyfriend isn't enamored of the snow here, I am glad to see it. He doesn't quite realize how vital precipitation can be, since he is very much a "city boy."

Last year we left my parents house right before we got a settlement sent to us. That was really good timing! We got it the day after we left there. It was good because they would have asked for a lot of money if we didn't leave already...
