Can a person have a decent day on MyLot without posting anything?

Yesterday (Sunday) I tried to go through a whole day without posting anything on MyLot, but I just couldn't do it. I did some commenting in the morning, and then headed off to a music party in the afternoon. When I got home, I was "jonesing" to post something, so I did a post about some of the songs we sang at the party. From an "earnings" standpoint, by bank DID move throughout the day while I was gone, but the amount I made was about half of what I'd grown used to, even with my recently lowered "moving average." So my "working hypothesis" is that, as in many areas of life, balance is good. For me, what works best is doing a post or two, so my MyLot friends have something to comment on if they come and visit me, and also leaving lots of comments on others' posts. Have your earnings dipped somewhat on days when you don't have the time or mojo to post anything, even if you did some active commenting on others' posts?

It is best to start 'good' discussions - that's the key word first of all. But interaction is really where it's at. And if you start a good discussion the interaction follows.

That's true. Occasionally I worry that I'm running out of ideas. But then I see something out there in the real world (from texting drivers to ducks with their babies) and I get a new idea.

When I was new on here, I used to only read and read and read... Now I'm trying to balance my reading and posting of discussions/responses/comments. Some of my higher earning days on here recently were from when I was not posting a new discussion and only posting responses/comments on discussions started by others.

As @AbbyGreenhill pointed out, if you get yourself involved in a really active discussion, it can be good for earnings.

@HanVanMeegerin That depends on how long a person has been here, how prolific they are, etc. Some people are excited to make $00.20 a day. Others make more than $1.00 on an average day.

@sishy7 what do you consider a decent earnings day here?

One can do pretty good here without posting anything for a day. I do. I don't always post everyday. So far I am averaging about one a day to one every two days. I spend a good amount of time interacting with others. That is what's so great about MyLot. Unlike other sites. There is no minimum amount of posts to make here. Common sense delegates everything really. Just pace yourself.

I think each person will slide into a routine they feel comfortable with. But in general, some kind of balance is good.

@TheHorse Oh, definitely. Balance is needed on any site like this. I like the interaction. And besides, sites like this do rely on interaction.

@inertia4 If there was no interaction it would cease to exist.

I think it's best to have balance, not too many discussions started, maybe 1-4, and spread out if possible, to catch different people and not flood your followers. who knows!

@TheHorse pretty much. I learned on Bubbs that you were best off spacing your posts out throughout the day. you caught a wider audience and had a better chance of catching responses and such. It also makes it feel more thoughtful and less verbal diarrhea

@Jessicalynnt Yes, I think I had a few "seven post days" early in my career there, when things were really active. But I eventually settled in on two or three posts day, spaced out across the day.

I agree.I've seen some people go overboard with posting, and they only get one or two comments per post. That's not enough to get some good conversations going.

I don't see much connection between what I do (or don't do) and what I earn. It seems almost totally random.

I have noticed that if I interact on a very active discussion with lots of back and forth the numbers increase quickly.

There's definitely a "randomness factor" at play. But I think I've done best on days when I interacted a lot AND had at least one post that a lot of people commented on.

Some of my best days here on the site are after I posted an article the day before and just spent my time reading, commenting, and interacting with the people here the next day. I seem to jump up quickly doing this one. I don't see the need to post daily as long as I take time to go and read and interact here on this site. Works good for me.

If my last post is "tired" (already read and commented on by most of the people who visit me), then I feel compelled to post something new.

@TheHorse Yes I can see this and a lot of people do this one. I didn't post anything at all today. I was busy checking on stuff and just barley got some post commented on and some notifications done.

It is always better to come here and post as it will make a difference to your earnings and when I say post I don't mean posting Discussions I mean responding I know it does earn a bit more when you post Discussions but it is fun responding

I think it depends on how you define "decent". I am keeping up with the minimum for cash out, although I am way past it, that is what I want to achieve daily. I have good interactions without posts, it seems. I do have a bit of a pattern of one in the morning and one in the evening. I try to do a lot of interaction in between.

I try to write something first and then make comments and go through notifications. I find it works best for me if I break my time on the computer up so that I do not sit for too long.

That's similar to my pattern. Once I've done a post, I focus on interaction. if I have the energy when evening rolls around, I might do another post.

I still don't completely understand how things work in MyLot or which interactions get paid, but I notice that my high-earning days (wow high-earning!!!) were those days that i posted a discussion.

I'm not here long enough to know the difference. I did notice my daily count is smaller this month than last but I just assumed it was because there are more people here now sharing the pot. I don't have the time to spend more time here now but I will have lots of time when winter slows down the tourist trade that makes money for me in real life.

Making money in real life is good. My loudspeaker "business" is a bit slow right now. I'll make more this month than last month, but last month was my first month here.

@TheHorse I arrived last month around the Canadian Thanksgiving and had a huge three day art show to take care of so I wasn't here for several days. But I did reach the $10 point and actually more than that. This month I'm not sure I can reach at 10 spot. I don't care, I love it here!!

when i started on myLot i thought starting a new discussion was everything,, but with the passage of time i realized that main thing is interaction and discussion now i dont post too much, but i find a good topic and start discussion on this and i think i have decent earning i dont need to do 10 post per minute as some people are trying to do

Yes, what you have suggested that starting one or two discussions and postings comments on discussions started by others will help one increase one's earnings. I have no fixed pattern, I just like to be here whenever possible and post my comments and responses to discussions which appeal me. To accumulate cents has never been a priority for me. I just enjoy here.
