Chaos At The Karaoke.

I'm on holiday in Spain, and on our way back from the beach to the hotel in the late afternoons we pass a Karaoke bar. It's open from 2pm to 2am, and there are always people attempting to sing with varying degrees of success.
Yesterday we went in to watch the fun, when all of a sudden there were squeals coming from some people to the side of us. One rather large man yelped and ran towards the door, and then we saw what the problem was.
A group of girls on a hen party had brought a remote controlled rat with them, and they had let this loose among the crowd.
When people realised that it was fake, great hilarity ensued, though the big man was rather shame-faced.
I must admit that I might have let out a squeal or two myself if the rat had come at me without warning. Would you?

@jaboUK I know for certain that I would be the exception. People tend to overreact at the slightest incident.
I have been on 2 flights where a minor technical issue has developed, yet people suddenly went into shock. I remember one time that the pilot aborted the landing and announced that the flaps were not working. This is no big deal, but Aviation regulations insist that he circles for about 10 to 15 minutes to run a series of checks. This did mean that we would land much faster than usual, but if the pilot was content then so was I. It was so amusing to look around and see the horror on so many faces.

@Asylum I had a similar incident to that when we had to turn back two hours into a flight across the Atlantic. The pilot had to jettison a lot of fuel as they wouldn't allow landing back at Gatwick with a lot of fuel on board.
I don't know if that was because of the minor fault, or if it was standard procedure, but I wasn't worried, just annoyed at the inconvenience.

I'd let out more than a squeal I think!

@jaboUK It must be a further source of pleasure to you when you look at the UK weather and realise what you have missed back home.

@AbbyGreenhill You and me both! Fortunately, I was far enough away for it not to bother me.

@41CombedaleRoad I've been in the hotel pool, but only paddled in the sea - the sea's a bit cold. The weather is amazing for December though - I've just come in from sunbathing by the pool - lovely.

@Marilinda1225 I will be sacrificing people left and right by pushing and pulling behind them to hide myself from the evil critter.

I would have probably stomped on it - a little rude and disruptive to use such toys at public events

@MarshaMusselman A hen party is a get-together of a bride-- to- be and her friends, just before she gets married. They can be raucous occasions. A stag party is the male equivalent.

@jaboUK I can guess what a hen party is, but I wouldn't be sure as we don't call them that here, or at least not near me. Was it a bunch of college girls?

@jaboUK Good, but squealing would frighten the poor thing, if it had been real.

@LeaPea2417 - Scary, but it makes a funny story, and a few of her neighbors thought it was a comical sight.

OH dear poor man. He must have been terrified. I should imagine someone of a nervous disposition could have a heart attack seeing something like that. I hope you are enjoying the sun Janet. Have a great time! (Did you get up and sing for the crowds?)

@Lucky15 The thing is that we don't really know how we'd react for sure unless it happened to us. I think if I'd seen it from afar first I would have been alright, but if it appeared suddenly at my feet - that would have been a different matter.

@jaboUK LOL! Poor guy! I most likely wouldn't have had much reaction besides just moving away from the scene. I would have been all icky about it possibly crawling on my feet but other than that, I'd be a very quiet one.

@VivaLaDani13 I would have been startled if it came right at me, but as it was I was able to view it as just a bit of fun.
