I am so excited - the 1st December has rolled around, the kids have opened their Advent calendars and as far as I'm concerned it is officially Christmas! They actually didn't get to open the calendars until after school as I was a disorganised mess this morning and they weren't even on the wall by the time we had to leave - never mind, the four of them are up now and the first doors are open.
The Minnie Mouse one is my eight year old daughters, her four year old brother just HAD to have a Spiderman calender as that's his current hero - the teens have both opted for more grown up Dairy Milk calendars, I'm sure the chocolate in those will be nicer.
Have you all opened your advent calendars - anyone got a 'grown ups' one this year? I had a beauty calendar last year which I loved but I didn't get round to ordering one this year - kinda missed opening it today!

We got them for the grand children and apparently my daugher has got an adult one for us so she just told me and will drop it around tomorrow. I am shocked the baby is four now! Blimey where does the time go!

@garymarsh6 Tell me about it - he's five this month, goes to school now and is DEFINITELY not a baby these days (with a big gob to match the bigger body... lol) Ooh, you'll have to let us know what your calendar is - love hearing about the ones for big kids! ;o) x
You're so right @Marcyaz - my oldest is nineteen about about to fly the nest next September, time goes so quickly!

My partner is a bit of a misery about Christmas - I think he'd get a proper sulk on if I bought him an advent calendar... ;o)

@chrisandmark To me it is nowhere near Christmas yet, despite the stores having promoted it since late October.

@Asylum Yeah, it has all seemed a bit premature this year - mind you, on the plus side, I noticed the Creme Eggs in the newsagents this morning...

You're the second person who has said that to me today - my friend thinks 1st December is way too early to start getting into the mood

@chrisandmark Maybe I'll do that! It's a while since I had a treat - at least two days ago.

Ahh, lovely! My daughter asked for a dog advent calendar actually but there wasn't much choice anywhere this year other than for the usual character calendars

I had one when my kids were little, but they are all grown up, and have children of thir own. They don't use the advent calendar as adults though. I have put up my tabletop tree, a wreath on the door, and a star in the window. That is about all I do, since I live alone. I do love Christmas though, as it is my favorite holiday.

I haven't had an advent calendar since childhood when you could only get biblical pictures behind the doors not sweets, toys and Darth Vader which is way more cool

Oh no @arthurchappell - I remember those card advent calendars and if I thought I could get away with it I'd buy those lovely non-choc ones for the kids! They have enough chocolate anyway and the older biblical ones look so much nicer than holey Minnie Mouses and Spidermen!

We always had the advent calendar for the kids. They loved them. I like your name, we gave that name to our first born, our only daughter. She is 45 now

I am so excited for the Christmas season! We're already watching Christmas DVDs lol. I worked on my cards tonight while watching Rudolph on TV. :) My sister got my nieces a LEGO calendar; they each take turns opening it, and each day includes a LEGO figure. :)

The advent calendar was not really part of my Christmas growing up. I've seen so many different styles for the kids but havent' seen varieties for the adults.
