What Motivates You To Write?

I write because I am reasonably good at describing and explaining things and because I enjoy doing so. It also gives me pleasure when people compliment me on what I write, especially if I feel that I have helped them or expanded their horizon in some way. Of course, if I can do what I enjoy doing and feel that I am good at AND earn something for doing it, that is an added bonus and incentive. It may, indeed, be one of the reasons for choosing a particular platform to write on, though another - and equally valid reason - may be that a platform has members who I am particularly competent to help in some way.

I think most of us write because we have something to say and if we earn a little that's a bonus. Writing only for money means it's chore rather than a hobby.

Money is definitely a good motivator, but that is not enough to make us write day after day. if we hate the activity, there is no way we can do it over and over and over. Most people are expressive in nature, and some people rather speak than write, and some rather write than speak.

What motivates me to writing is just online presence mainly as I don't really earn anything from my blogs. Good thing there's MyLot for both money and presence.

Conversation for the most part. Interaction about things that interest me. Sure the money is okay, but unless you can maintain a successful blog? you aren't really reaping what you sow.

It is just something i do my brain gets to seek different things out then you write about it.

Glad that you enjoy writing; that's very cool. I personally don't care for writing online or in blogs much, but I always start writing stories. I usually get inspired after reading a really good book or when I randomly have ideas. I have the beginnings of like 8 stories. At some point or another I lose my train of thought or creativity and give up. Ha. Happy writing to you!

I am here because i want to share my opinion. I want to read discussions and maybe even learn from what i have read. MyLot is by far the best discussion website i have come across. The payout is just a bonus.

Writing is my way of sharing my thoughts and ideas with persons from other countries. This is what motivates me most to write.

Everything can motivate me to write. But I should find a good way to express it. Else that would end up not read by anyone.

I actively participate in this site during my spare time. Money is a bonus for me.

Money doesn't motivate me neither. I like to write on here. And I like to start interesting discussions(Or at least try to make them interesting) for people to answer. I also like to talk to people of like-minded and make new friends. As I have said before, I use to be a member here of the old Mylot. Before they stopped paying it's users. I met a friend on here, and than we navigated to Facebook. And truthfully, we are still friends after all of these years. I like to think that if I make friends here on Mylot, I like to keep in touch with them. Even off Mylot. Kinda like chat through text, or through Facebook. :)

For me it has been the interactions all the way, getting to know people and exchanging ideas and knowing more about them. Money does play its part as a motivator too - siva

I put that fact that I do write under my belt. I put this in the list of the many things I do, ...and it sounds cool..lol

Money doesn't motivate me...certainly not the pennies we get here. I like to discuss stuff with people. I'd do it for free and did until the site was taken over by spammers. Now it's back to normal I'm back here to discuss
