Do you expect returns when you help someone?

I have seen people talking about how they helped a person and he didnt do it back when they are in need.
I have seen my mother do it and I always try to correct her. I really hate it when someone mentions the help they done to a person to achieve something. I help others with a hope that God will reward me.
Some expect something back from the one they helped. I am not saying that they shouldnt be helping back.
But is it okay to expect it? Like when I help you, you should also help me, kind of thoughts.
What do you think? Are you a that kind of person who expects something in return?
Thanks for reading.

No I do not expect returns, I know God will give it back to me in his own time so no need to rush. It is not like lending or loaning money

My help in return is accumulating in Heaven.I believe are returns come back in one form or another, but there's a higher source then just getting the, "You scrub my back, i"ll scrub yours" motto.
This is not to say that like your Mom perhaps, people tend to use others, and that just goes without saying.

@aju007,There was a time when I used to expect returns. One day,in a jam packed bus I offered my seat to a woman. She quickly occupied it without thanking me.Honestly speaking,I was shocked.Thereafter I gave up expecting returns, even a thanks from those whom I helped.

I do whatever I can to help others and I never expect people to award me for it. All I would be after is a thank you and knowing that they truly appreciate it.
But it would be nice to know that if ever I needed help that those people would help me out. Not because they feel they have to for me helping them but because they would generally like to help me.

I believe in karma--I have volunteered for 70 of my 80 years and it has 'always' paid off--maybe not immediately but when something happens years later I truly believe that is my payback!!

No I wouldn't usually expect anything in return.
