Do You Cook?

United States

I prefer to cook because it saves money. Even more important, I have a lot of food sensitivities, so it's better and safer if I prepare my own meals. It's such a pain to order something and ask them to tweak it so I can eat it. It's also not guaranteed that the cook will make it that 'special' way anyway. Do you cook at home most evenings or whatever meals you have at home? Or do you eat a lot of take-out or maybe frozen meals?

In my place, we only go to restaurants once in a while. Nearly 98% of the time, we cook our own food. It is healthy and also cost effective. It would cost about $2-3 for a meal made in home but the same will cost $7-8 if you choose to buy food from a Restaurant.

I hear ya and with you on all of that. It's also kind of fun to come up with a home made version of a favorite restaurant food and make it for so much less money than you'd get it at the restaurant.

We cook almost everything from scratch really, though Trader Joe's has some great pastas. Tonight we will have the second meal from a very unusual chili I made in the crock pot.

First, I love Philly! We do a bit of this and that: cooking healthy foods at home, ordering food for delivery or pick up, and eating out. It all depends. Given my druthers, I'd rather not cook. I'd rather be on mylot! Lol!

Lol. I miss all the take out. But it's a heavy price to pay so I cook or even whip up a quick smoothie. So cool you've been to Philly. I'm actually in a suburb outside the city but close enough.

@AuraGael I know several people with food sensitivities, so I understand. I've been to Philly twice with my husband. We loved it and want to return.

I know right? I miss take out but sometimes it can fall short. When you do it yourself, there's full control.

I cook because of food sensitivities. I don't especially like to but I have gotten pretty good at it!

Yeah, it depends on my mood. Sometimes I like cooking and other times I don't. If I don't feel like it, I go for a smoothie, quick and easy.

I am so not a frozen food kind of girl. When my husband was working I cooked dinner every night. Now that he is retired I cook 4 or 5 nights a week and we get carry out the other nights or go out to eat.

i know this is not connected to your post but i read an article somewhere about cannibalism. One of the people who identified as cannibal had a reasoning that he murdered and eat people so that he can save on his groceries. haha

I enjoy cooking and usually I will cook in the weekends. Since it needs some time to prepare a meal, so I have to do it when I don't have to work. It is very interesting that I like cooking foreign food like sushi, pizza, steaks, french fries and so on. My son likes it a lot.

I love to cook during free days but eat in fastfoods or restaurants when I was working because I don't want to wash hands after typing whole day. :)
