Saving for the Future

When I was young I often hear elderlies say the line "You must learn how to save for your future." As a kid then, I didn't know much about how to do it and why I should do it. Eventually, as I grow older, I finally realized what this means. It's really hard for a person to grow old without savings. I have seen a lot who has a good life when they were young but suffered financially when they reached old age. They cannot even afford to live a decent life. The thing is, we are not young forever so it is better to save money while we are young. It's hard especially nowadays that there are a lot of material things that would complicate the way we handle money but we should be firm enough so that we will have a better life when we grow old.

That's what I've been doing since I was 5 years old, save every penny I can from allowances or salary until I worked and sell items to the junk shop.
Does this have perks? Yes. I can do whatever I want. No one can stop me from resigning if I want to resign. Others do not resign from work because of the difficulty of finding a new job where they can get money to shoulder their expenses.
Also, no one can influence me by using money to change my decision. I don't neeed other's money. I know how to save and I've mastered it.
Lastly, you have something to use during rainy days. I don't call/text my parents when I'm in need because I have something to use anyway. I don't want to bother anyone just because of money. They have problems too.

@rina110383 I hope I can do that. I don't have any financial responsibilities at home. I live with my parents so I don't have to worry about everyday expenses. But I am having a hard time saving because the past years I have lived a happy go lucky life, so I have to pay for it until now.

@LdeL0318 I've seen how thrifty and hardworking my parents are. At a young age, I was taught how to go to the bank with my piggy bank just to deposit coins. It really makes a difference.Even if I can afford something, until this very day, I live below my means.
It's not yet too late.

My parents don't often tell me to save. But I do know they want me to since I have seen what they have experienced now. They didn't save that much before for their future, and now we are always looking for money to pay for their hospital bills. I do have a hard time saving myself but I do know that I needed to start saving more now that I will be turning 30 and I am planning to start my own family. It's just that it's so hard to do.

Yes it is especially when you got a lot of responsibility. You tend to prioritize the present rather than thinking of what will happen tomorrow. It's hard especially from our culture who thinks of family first rather than ourselves.

It's a bit hard though when you also provide for your family. Do you know how annoying it is when somebody say " You probably have a lot of savings now, since you are single"? It probably would be true if I keep my salary to myself alone. It's not that I'm complaining, it's just that when you are young and doesn't have children to feed or send to school, some people assume that you're enjoying a really good life.
