I got a new toy for my birthday. I requested, and got a Magic Bullet, it will do any job in 10 seconds or less (impressed??). I wanted one, because I was afraid of breaking my regular blender and I wanted to blend those nasty veggies with good fruit and just drink it. This is suppose to make my life easier and I can get in all that green yucky stuff that I do not like, but NEED in order to live a healthy life. I will say it is a pretty cool little contractions. So far I have drank my breakfast, lunch, got a liquid snack and a pick me up. I have been hunting for great recipes and wanted to share something I learned.
These are some of the healthy things you can add to your smoothy and not even notice:
Tofu- has protein and calcium and makes ya feel full longer.
Flaxseed- lowers inflammation and increases blood flow in the body, reduces the risk of high blood pressure and blood clots
Chia- This is a superfood, my husband has found it to help him with his diabetic numbers. High in protein, calcium, High fiber, antioxidants.
Kefir-calcium & probiotics
Quinoa- another superfood, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, helps maintain levels of HDL cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol) this is something I need to work on
I am sure there are many more, but I was just amazed at the "good for me" stuff I could add to my smoothie, not taste, but get the benefit from. (win/win)
I am loving my new toy. Do you drink smoothies for health and what do you add to yours? Have a beautiful and Healthy day!!

@just4him I just did one for my weight lifting son this morning, he loved it. I filled it with lots of protein type stuff. We still have a regular one, the kids like to make large batches of fruit smoothies, they do not like mine with spinach in it. When I leave it on the counter, they stopped tasting it

@mom210 yes, skimmed milk has no taste at all, it is just like drinking water colored white.

@ridingbet I have noticed that they are making chocolate milk in 1% now as well. I guess that is to help people decide to buy it because it taste better maybe.

I do enjoy most of mine raw as well. There is something so wonderful about taking a big bite of a juicy apple or crispy carrot. Sometimes I just do not take the time to eat them like I should so when I am in a hurry, this is such a great answer for me. There are a few though, like beets (yuck) that I love to disguise in a smoothy

It all depends on what we throw into our smoothies. The things you mention seem all to be healthy foods.

@mom210 I don't blame you. I have battled with high blood pressure for several months now. At one point I was on 3 medications. I am now working on trying to do it more naturally. I have been whittling away at the numbers for a bit now and I can see a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

He is a little cutie!
I have a magic bullet too, and I use it for a lot of different things. I usually make my own bread crumbs with it from the ends of the loaves of bread.
I am not a real fan of smoothies, but when I make them, I prefer to use the blender. What I do like doing in the bullet is chopping up broccoli and cauliflower for when I am getting ready to make a soup out of them.

My mom gave me her magic bullet, but i have TOO much stuff in my kitchen. so i need to get rid of it. when we make a smoothie, everyone wants one. so it's better for us to use the blender.

I have heard nothing but good things about the bullet, I have always wanted to try it and I thought If I had it maybe it might be easier to start leading a healthier lifestyle

@mom210 So it is pretty easy to use? Whats the difference between a bullet and a regular blender.

@Castlerock34 It is really easy, the main difference in mine is that mine would not be capable of chewing up nuts or large bulky type things. The motor would probably burn out. Plus it is smaller so I can easily mix up a smoothie for just me. In the blender there would be a lot of excess space then I have to wash that large container. The bullet has several small containers, I could do a shake for breakfast and lunch in separate containers. mainly, convenience.

@sgbrown We are needing a new stove top and I was really thinking of getting one with a grill attached. Hubby grills on Sundays, but with his work schedule that is really all he can do. But now if I had one in the house, I could do it for regular meals. I just do not know if it tastes as good as doing it outside. Guess I need to do some more research. I have made a lot of changes, sure hope when I go to the dr again, it shows.

My middle daughter bought herself one and she puts in things from your list when making smoothies...and the kids don't even know it's in there. She loves it, or I should say loved it as hers has already quit working after just a couple of months.

My son has a smoothie for breakfast - he loves them. I still prefer my toast and marmalade and hope that the rest of my diet compensates for what I miss in the morning.

The only time I drink them is when someone makes one for me. Can you and your new toy come over? My sister loves them and makes them for me when I visit.
