Boiling in My Sunday Best

The funeral turned out to be on the hottest day Scotland got - yesterday- whilst we were all in penguin suits, or rather, Sunday's best as in a black suit with shirt and tie wasn't much fun for me or the other men as we stood outside to wait for the family of the deceased to arrive. The temperate was 25 degrees C before rising to 27 degrees C and the church was quite cool when we walked in, but soon became quite warm when the place filled up.
I smiled a bit through the service though as the lady who had deceased would have been sitting next to me laughing. There was no organist because the church have no organist and the usual congregation sing to a CD of organ playing. There is no speed regulator, so we all felt like we were singing to a rushed speed of the organ. At times we left the organ playing the chorus when half the congregation were still on the verses! I turned to my friend who whispered "I guess we're lucky to have you," given that I usually play at their church.
After the funeral finished, we didn't go to the reception afterwards. All of us felt that we just had to get back on the road again as there were rumours of thunderstorms.
I got home at 2pm and the sun was still out, but it was too hot to sit outside in the garden. Come 11pm and we had the most terrific thunderstorm that went onto around 9am this morning! More to come, apparently! (c)Nar2/crystalvisions2016.

@crystalvisions I've one to go to on Friday and I do hope it's not too hot.

It can be quite odd to sing to a tape or CD. Church organists are rare on the ground these days.
