Two years ago my hubby and I placed a love lock on the bridge in Paris but not before a big debarkle, of where the RED LOVE LOCK bought in Germany for this purpose, had disappeared ? Yes, we had stumbled upon a street kiosk which sold these love Locks to the travelers to put on any bridge they found desirable along their journey. We bought it for a whopping $15 and then decided to wait till Paris and Lock it on the famous bridge. After arriving in Paris, the day of our walk around Notre Dame and the Louvre, we searched and searched for this already bought Love lock. Nowhere! Nowhere to be found! Can you believe my surprise when I found it today . . . . 2 years later . . . . In a silly little camera cover bag I was about to toss out because it belongs to the camera that was stolen last year. Love is not lost, and now I will have to find somewhere to Lock our Love in SA or else visit Paris again. I know what I would like . . . A girl can dream can't she?

@inlemay If you go to Paris to declare your love to the world you should try very hard not to find that bridge then you'll have to go again. And again.

Try to use the lock in South Africa Lany, in Paris they have been removed one year ago because they were causing great damages. The total weight of the removed locks were 45 Tons!!! You can imagine the great problems they have caused. In Italy they did the same in Rome.

@MALUSE It's a shame, people are inconsiderate. I cannot imagine how they cannot understand that all those lockets create a stress on the bridge structure. They have removed all the locks also in Italy.

@Inlemay I would not say that the lovers are mad, I would say that young generations respect nothing. Last year several statues have been damaged because people do stupid things. I think that Italians should remove all the originals and place "copies" or what we did not lose because was stolen during the wars we will lose now due to the tourists.

@LadyDuck The day I visited Florence I watched the locksmiths remove the love locks from the bridge Ponte Vecchio in Florence, where the railing of the statue of Benvenuto Cellini is locked to eternal love. The man was quite funny telling me in broken English that the Lovers are Mad! @MALUSE

This sounds like a perfect excuse to return to Paris.

That's romantic . I have already heard about those love locks because they have that in one of the famous Catholic church in Metro Manila , where they also pledge their love to each other .

Yeah, come to Britain, hop on the Eurostar train to Paris and put your lock on the bridge. Be back in Blighty in time for tea Hello Lany, hope your weekend was good.

We came across several of these bridges in several cities. What a shame you couldn't find the love lock at the time.

@JudyEv we have our moments in between the debates . . . He always reminds me of how many times we nearly got divorced in Europe over, buses, Texans, metros, euros and love locks.

We put our suitcase lock n instead. With marker pen we etched our names on the dull old lick, declaring our love. Ha ha

You can't do it in Paris anymore, because it is ruining the bridge. Love in your heart is what counts.

I know - We just love the symbolism of taking something and leaving it in Paris

We have a lot of places in Germany where you can put love luck. I have never thought that you can buy that lock in some stores. I will try to find that where I live. Thanks for the idea. Good you have found your love luck.
