Glad I Didn’t Get Rid of Everything

When I retired, I downsized my clothing wardrobe drastically. I knew I wouldn’t need business clothes ever again. But I did save a few things in order to hedge my bet just a little. Good thing I did. I’m going to be speaking to groups large and small in order to promote my book Full Ride Scholarship Awareness (new title). Jeans and Life Is Good t-shirts just won’t do.
I have two pairs of black dress slacks. My new black SAS shoes will work too. I don’t wear heels anymore. I refuse to feel pain to appear stylish. I kept three long sleeved silk knit shirts. I just couldn’t bear giving them away. I did the same for one girlie business jacket. All these items work together to create my speaking “uniform”. I will need another jacket for cooler weather, as the one I have is wool. No good for California at the moment.
So I’ll be off to Nordstrom soon to see what they have. Since it’s the end of their summer season, I might find an appropriate jacket on sale. I usually have pretty good luck.
Do you have the right wardrobe for all occasions?

I should take my extra clothes somewhere. I´ve been meaning to do that for a long time.

Oh, this reminds me when I bought my first suit for a job interview when I was a fresh graduate... I think it was JC Penney where I bought it... I kept that suit for many years since and it sure served me well through many occasions requiring a business attire...
Have fun at Nordstrom!

When Anne retired, she too got rid of a lot of upscale business wear, but kept a few things she has needed for conferences and things since then. I did the same thing, but still need to shed more ties.

I have kept a few odds and ends of clothing I rarely rare, too. You never know when you might need something a little formal.

I didn't keep much of my 'business' wardrobe and now I've lost weight I'd probably have to get some new stuff. Hope you pick up a nice jacket.

Stores have all the discount items and clothing on sale when season is over or far away. For example you can buy a grill for half off during the winter or fall and winter clothing sales in the summer.

I have a classical style red dress which I produce for weddings, but this has been used for so many years now that I really should replace it.

About 3 years ago I finally gave all my 'business' clothes and most of my 'dress' clothes to the local church @ElizabethWallace . Since I'm mostly a T-shirt/shorts/jeans girl, I really didn't need the fancier stuff anymore. I kept a couple of things to wear when my sister comes to visit twice a year and takes me to dinner.

Yes. Once a year I give clothes that I barely use to my relatives but I always keep the clothes for special occasion.I still keep my corporate attire, cocktail dress, bathing suit and gym get up.
