It's all happening tomorrow

Only one more sleep till our celebration for Vince's 70th birthday. Basically we've having barbecued meat and a variety of salads. One of these is a saladia which is mashed potato with chives, gherkins and spring onions added. French dressing is also added then it is set in a mould tin for a while before being turned out and smothered with mayonnaise and garnished with sliced tomato. This is setting in the fridge waiting to be finished tomorrow. Another salad is made of spinach and strawberries. The dressing contains sesame- and poppy-seeds. It sounds an unlikely combination but it is very popular. A rice and pineapple salad is in the fridge. The trifle just needs the custard added, the cheese-cake is made, there is a birthday cake to be picked up tomorrow that the birthday boy doesn't know about and most things are proceeding as planned. I have beds all made up ready for some of the guests - four people will stay in the house, three in the bus/motor-home and two in the caravan. Tomorrow I'm going to put a chocolate on each pillow. I'm just hoping I bought too many. Guess what I'm going to say next? I may not be around much tomorrow

except for perhaps early in the morning. I'll let you know how it went once it's all over and I'm back to near normal. The photo is of a saladia from a past occasion.

@JudyEv When we just shifted to our new home we loved entertaining house guests but now my age has put a stop to such activities. I have been there and done that. I have cut down a lot and live quite a relaxed life.

@LadyDuck In some respects we didn't really want parties but I think friends and family welcome the opportunity to wish the birthday person well. We are all getting older and we may not have such good health by the time our next 'significant' birthday comes around. Thanks for your good wishes.
