Where does everyone want to live when they retire?

Do you want to retire right where you are? Do you want to move to the ocean and watch the waves? Or do the mountains entice you? What makes retirement look satisfying for you? Which would mean more happiness for you? Spending it with a partner or spouse or alone?

Florida is a popular state for retirement. Probably because it is so warm with lots of beaches.

I have a relative who lives in Florida. He used to live here in Pennsylvania like I do. Once he moved to Florida, he said he would never move back. Never been to Florida, but Mother had been there. The gators would scare me too much. Maybe that gator you saw in Mississippi is a suggestion to move back to Florida.

My husband and I have been retired for several years now and don't want to live anywhere else. I do wish we lived a little closer to some of our children, but don't plan to move.

I really don't want to think of the idea of retiring, I want to write even after the day I die haha I just want to be a ghost creating stories, that would be amazing. But for maybe that year break between things I would like to live in a place that rains a lot. I just love the rain and it inspires me so much haha

Felicia, I love to write. If you are looking for rain to inspire you, there is always London! They have a ton of fog, too.

I don't want to think about retiring either, as it's so far away, as I'm only 38 years old.

I think that I will stay where I am when I retire, but I'll do more travelling to visit exotic locations instead of living there.

@MsBooklover Exactly. I already have friends here and I am familiar with the area. Plus I don't need to move all my stuff somewhere else.

I would love to have my house by the beach when we retire. To enjoy the morning and evening walks as well as sunrise and sunset

One of the things I like about the city is that you can walk to so much.

Spend it with a spouse in a rural area where there is less noise. Similar to where we are now, but I would like to see more trees.

I would like to be able to retire once I get old enough and I would like to be able to make enough money now and in the future, that way my parents will actually be able to retire and I'll be able to take care of them and they want have to worry about it. The town my college is in is a big retirement place for older people. I would like to have a house there but also one at the beach as well like the elderly in my college town who spend the summer months in the mountains and the winter ones at the beach. Retirement looks satisfying for me because I am ready to just sit on my front porch with my husband and our dogs and maybe have our grandkids playing in the yard. I just want to be able to enjoy life without having to worry about paying bills, when I'll eat again, or the stress of having to do things every day.

That is an honorable desire. I am not ready for retirement yet, but that sounds like a plan.

when I retire, I want to live in a countryside, overseas, my ideal country is either Holland or korea. I prefer to face the green grass hill side, breeding horses. No grandchildren please because my own kids had made a hell of noise , yelling and screaming for the past 20 years! I want peace and quiet retirement.
