We always do this after participating in the Holy sacrifice of the mass: going to a food store and have our snacks. Sometimes too, it is our brunch.
Why snacks when we are going home after mass? It is because I have my breakfast with a cup of hot coffee and cheese sandwich, and so my stomach rumbles even while the mass is going on. The vermicelli is already good to fill up my stomach, until we can have our lunch at home.
The 3 of us had noodles of different preparation, but with the common noodles as vermicelli. Each plate cost PhP50.00. My sister had cellophane noodles (sotanghon), my son had round rice noodles with thick shrimp sauce (palabok), while I had Chinese rice noodles (bihon-and the picture is my snack). I and my sister had water while my son had an 8 ounce bottle of orange.
Do you have your heavy snacks before your lunch?

it's so colorful! you're so patient in preparing everything from scratch. you have to use a machine to shape them, right?

@LadyDuck great idea! sometimes i find using scissors faster when cutting or slicing something than a knife.

@hereandthere I use the machine to flatten the dough, but most of the time I cut them manually. When the dough is almost dry, you roll it and you cut, very easy.

That pancit looks good!
Sometimes, I do get a light snack before lunch but most of the time, I have an early lunch so I can do away with the snack.

your meal looks yummy. I like chinese rice noodles. In fact When I was recovering from Chemo and radiation.. I would get this meal from the Chinese restaurant every day and it was like the only meal I could eat that didn't go through me. I think it is a very healthy meal.

@ridingbet yes, it looks delicious. I get the Chicken Chow Mei Fun. it has some crunchy veggies, and rice noodles and chicken. the only thing I don't like in it much is the mushrooms they put in it.

yes my friend. i think this noodles dish is a one-dish meal because it already has protein, carbohydrates, fats, oil, and water.

@minx267 so you don't like the taste of the button mushrooms? surprisingly, i like these mushrooms.
when it thunders, my late mother said mushrooms grow in the back yard, especially when the ground is covered with banana leaves. the mushrooms of this kind are cooked with green leafy vegetables and the broth is so good.

@ridingbet this reminds me of something when I was still a student. I had to go to tuitions early in the morning and will usually have a quick breskfast. However most of the times by 9 am my stomach was rumbling very loudly and I am sure others were hearing it too. So uncomfortablr it was

@Nawsheen yes that is so true. stomach rumbling in hunger.

thank you. noodles, though carbohydrates, is still considered a dish for us, and we sometimes eat this with rice.
