In India, normally girls of lower height are preferred for marriage with a boy. Here, they talk about decency of look. If the boy is taller than the girl, the couple looks good. Do you feel so? Is there any other scientific reason behind this belief or practice?

I don't think it matters. My sister has dated guys that are shorter than her and they looked fine. She has been dating the same guy now for 7 years and she is a few inches taller than him.

My cousin is shorter than his wife and they have been happily married for years. Society can be mean sometimes and society can dictated our decisions, but nowadays, we don't allow society to do that much dictation in our personal lives.

I don't think height or any other physical appearance has anything to do with compatibility or a good marriage. My cousin is shorter than his wife and they are living a great life together.

@prasanta I think the best person who can really have opinions regarding this is a person from your own country and culture.

People should follow their interests. Every one has their cultural and personal ways of doing things, finally everything depends on what we want..

My husband is taller, but I do not think height has much weight in love matters.

I feel guys should be taller than girls. I feel it will look odd if the girl is taller than the guy. I feel girls should not be very tall. An average height is okay, but not exceeding that.

We stayed for long 11 years abroad after our marriage. When we came back to India, My elder daughter was 6. She was asked to draw her family in school. She drew her dad, mom, herself and her baby sister. As per the Indian standard, teacher pointed out that she has drawn mom as tall as her dad. On that remark, she innocently replied-"I have both parents who are equal". We had a good laugh when the teacher narrated the story in one of the meetings.

That was a big question in our marriage. I am 5 feet 8 inches tall and so is my husband. But owing to my tall legs and slim body I look taller than him. My mother-in.law did not like my husband's ideas of marrying me. But we are happily married for last 18 years now. I carry my height and he carries his own with grace. And we do not care about what others feel about us as good looking couple. We are happy together
