Purple Iris in Bloom

The purple irises bloomed much later this year than in previous years. I guess everything is late this year for whatever reason. Anyway they were worth the wait.
The Purple iris is a herbaceous perennial found in parts of Africa, the Middle East North America, Europe and Asia. They require very little maintenance and can grow as high as 5 feet and bloom for up to three weeks in spring to summer.
The purple iris is the state flower of Tennessee and named after the Greek goddess of the rainbow. (The Garden Guides)

The flowers are looking awesome. There are less variety of flowers which are in purple colour, therefore, these flowers become special.
These flowers also grow in my terrace garden but only during rainy season (June to August).
