My husband had an accident in Boston on Saturday morning after breakfast. While I was busy trying on clothes in a fitting room, he tripped and fell flat on his face.
Security ran to his rescue, washed and bandaged him up, found me, checked out my purchases quickly, and we returned to our hotel.
Unfortunately, my husband's wound needed stitches. So, off to the hospital we went. He was given a CAT-Scan, dermal glue and steri strips instead of stitches, and Tylenol for his bruised ribs.
He is fine, and only has discomfort in his ribs. We were to have had dinner with friends from Savannah, Georgia who were visiting Boston, but the wife had a viral infection and cancelled that morning.
We had cocktails in the hotel bar, took a leisurely walk around the lakes in Boston Commons, returned to the hotel for dinner, and called it an early night.
My sweet hubby thinks he ruined my weekend and keeps apologizing, but he didn't. We went shopping on Friday and ate at our favorite restaurant. I'm just glad he's ok.

How sad that this happened and glad your husband is okay!
That is quite a hit he took there.
And his ribs too? I hope he will be on the mend soon. I am so sorry.
Well I am sure he does feel bad about it, but glad that you had a nice time, despite the fall.
Are you still in Boston or home now Dianne?

@Debscrochet Thank goodness. Getting ill on vacations is awful. It's usually me who comes down with something.

Oh No, Dianne! I am so sorry your hubby fell like that! OUCHEE! Are they sure he didn't need stitches @DianneN ? The dermal glue and steri strips were enough? Thank goodness he didn't break his ribs. Thinking of you and your hubby my dear friend. And good you got some shopping done.xoxox

Thank you. I actually watched them put the glue on! Everything worked instantly and should hold for 7+ days until it falls off and the glue dissolves. His ribs are killing him, but he's injured them playing sports before. Today, his eyes got all black and blue, but that didn't stop him from attending his former secretary's retirement luncheon! And yes, we went straight to my favorite store shortly after we arrived on Friday to do some massive damage. Saturday was great, too, until the accident. I keep joking with him that I saved him a lot of money. I bought two tops and 8 dresses, but nothing else.

@Courtlynn Probably. I told them I'd be out in a few minutes. I still had two dresses to try on. Duh!
And I had an urge to go to the Cape!

Wow, Dianne, he really did a number on himself. The ribs take a long time to heal and there is little that can be done to provide comfort for them. He will need to take it easy for a while.
What a trooper he is though pushing through it all. Shopping and dinner too! My husband would have hung up his hat and called it a day.

so, your husband needed some stitches. why wasn't he applied with that gauze to close the wound without the stitch?

@ridingbet He had staples when he had his neck surgery last year. You can hardly see the scar now. If his wound was deeper, they would have given him stitches they told us. Most operations require staples or stitches. I'm just relieved he is ok.

@DianneN here, when a patient is operated on, they can sew it back or they can apply staples. and i really find that weird.

@DianneN The ribs are such a delicate area and often take a long time to heal. Ouch!

@PatZAnthony They certainly are. He hurt his ribs years ago playing racquetball by crashing into a glass wall. It took months to heal.

@DianneN Yup, he's lying. The nerve endings are closer to the surface in the head. One thing's for sure though; his ribs will hurt alot longer than the head cut.
