Dennis messaged me this evening Ph time informing me that he is diagnosed with a sciatica. I was so afraid when he told me the pain he feels start from his waist down. That is the reason why he cannot drive his car . He also has difficulty to sit and stand. I Goggle search that sickness and one cause of it is his previous health history like his urethra opeation. After he was operated with his bleeding urethra, sciatica attacked him. He has many health issues this time from Parkinson's disease to sciatica. . I told Dennis to stay positive and strong. I pity him so much. I hope his doctor can find remedy to his sickness. I offered him my service, yet he refused, but good news , he invited me to visit him in April to June first week in 2018. I pray God to give him some years to live. Is this also your first time to hear about siatica? This is the first to hear about this kind of sickness, so sickening reality. But this is life! Photo of Dennis.

siatica is quite common. Know a lot of people who have or had it. For me walking helped and I longer suffer from it. A good physiotherapist can also help.

Sciatica is painful but it is nothing serious and it does not last forever. I had sciatica two years ago, sciatica is the irritation of the sciatic nerve.

@cacay1 As correctly @RasmaSandra says, sciatica is not a disease, is the name given to the pain caused by the sciatic nerve.

Sciatica is not a disease it is a condition. I have had problems with my sciatica for lots of years. Some days I don't feel it at all and other due to weather conditions it is very bad. I am overall healthy and even with it when things are good I can run, dance and such. Here is a link that might explain things better to you.
Sciatica describes leg pain, numbness or weakness that starts in the low back and travels down the sciatic nerve in the leg causing sciatica pain.

@ridingbet @cacay1 Well, I think therapeutic massage is not essential for patient's suffering from sciatica. It is a condition that can lead to lower limb paralysis if it was not treated. I hope it is not a severe case. There are so many conventional treatments that are available in PT facilities. But it should be done by the PTs since some of them administered machines such as lumbar traction, heating modalities, etc. But then, I think @cacay1 your friend needs to consult the Physiotherapist or Physiatrist or Orthopaedist. It is better to be in safe side.

Yes I got this pain once, it's hell I say. I didn't sleep the whole night. Walking helps. We should not give much stress to the body, no running, jogging, no sitting for long hours. Simple exercises work. I am taking such precautions.

@just4him , maybe because you always do a lot of swimming exercise in the pool. That exercise helps fight that body condition.Sciatica is not a sickness a Mylotter shared me here, it is a body condition, not a sickness. I am so positive Dennis could handle this to relieve his painful waist.

Dennis looks quite good looking (and healthy) there. Never noticed of this Sciatica before, but as everyone has pointed out to you (and so is wiki), that it is a temporary ailment, goes away if Dennis takes proper rest. The guy is lucky to have you as his loving partner.

@YrNemo, yes, true, he is a good and healthy looking guy, but when he was diagnosed with having a Parkinson's Disease, he felt down and many complications entered his body like urethra complication, so he was operated for it bled, mild stroke, and this time sciatica. How nice if all reached old age and remained healthy.

@cacay1 If aging means healthy and beautiful looking forever, there would be too many people refuse to leave this earth. God is smart enough to devise of ways and means to make people WANTING to leave voluntarily & readily, so that the younger generations could have some rooms to move around... Am I right?

The sciatic nerve is affected. Treatment would be pain relievers, a regular visit to you physiotherapist. Another way to help ease the pain is to apply warm and cold compress to the area with pain.

@cacay1 As we grow older, our systems decreased its functions and same as through with the bones. Once the joint is worn out, it cannot be repaired. Unless we sort for the last option which is surgery. Most of the treatment for this kind of condition is palliative treatment. The effect is temporary.
