I forgot what a good cook he is. He cooked at his house and then he and his wife brought the food over. He made chicken fettucini alfredo and some yummy broccoli. They brought french bread with garlic butter and for dessert we had Klondike bars (ice cream bars without sticks).
We all had a nice visit, good food, and no dishes to clean up! There were lots of leftovers, he always did cook enough to feed an army, so the three of us (my son, his wife and I) will get at least 2 more meals out of it.
Have you ever had anyone cook for you and bring it to your house? It's such a nice treat!

That is so nice of them! I'm sure they feel as if they could eat for an army, too, after a long day of fasting. It is a joyous time for them.

It was really nice not to have to cook and do dishes, although my DIL usually does the dishes. Today we haven't washed even one!

That sounds lovely and a nice you have no clean up to do. My boyfriend sometimes brings me dinner no dishes to do either.

And no dishes to wash! I think the dessert was my favorite part of the meal, I never buy those Klondike bars but I love them.

Well, someone should! Someday someone will if you do that for others. Or maybe they will think of some other nice gesture that will mean as much.

@CoralLevang My mother used to cook when we were young, but she never liked, it was a chore for her. My mother-in-law was a good cook, but when she aged and I proposed to cook, she was more than happy to sit down and enjoy the food without the need to cook. My niece is young, but she pretends that she prefers to watch me cooking so she learns... sure!

Yes, it was. His wife is a very sweet lady, always doing for others. Every Sunday before church they go and give out water, coffee, and clothing to the homeless.

My youngest son, the one living with me now, is also a good cook when he feels like cooking. But like my ex, he dirties every pot and pan in the kitchen and when they are done it looks like a tornado hit it! But the food is delicious.

@jstory07 I don't, either. It's all in one's ability to organize. I also clean as I cook, which seems to be beyond the average male's skill set!

You're lucky to still have your mom. My mom was the absolute best cook in the world but I'm sure all children say that!

@dragon54u Thank you for your kind response. Yes, I agree with you that mothers' cooking is always best. Good for you also that you keep such friends' relations with your ex.

I don't enjoy cooking, either. I was married for 19 years to my ex and every single day I would cook at least 2 meals for the family (we have 2 sons). After cooking all those years I'm pretty much done with it. I either buy frozen meals (not good for me!) or spend just one day cooking for the week and freeze individual portions.

@dragon54u hang on, you ex didn't cook while you were still with him? I chatted to a lady with grown up children who still live with her, she said, 'no point in cooking every meal! One would want this, while the other would want that. So I just cook a few times a week, and put the food in the fridge. They eat whenever they want to!'

Ha! Unfortunately it was one of those days when I'm just not hungry. Rare, but inconvenient. I ate a little of it but not much. Tonight we are having it for dinner!

Occasionally my daughter will bring food over that she has cooked. Wow lucky you have your EX cook so you all could enjoy a delicious meal. Awesome that you have leftovers too
